Just finished watching "Beyond The Myth" on Netflix, that has to do with the stereotypes of pit bulls. Im just curious, any people that live in Ohio or Florida care to update us on current BSL (breed specific legislation)? The movie was made in '10 and most of the laws in the movie were anti-pit bull. Just wondering if anythings changed? I really feel sorry for you guys. Anyone else who lives in a BSL state feel free to chime in... |

I live in Ky. but spend most of my time in Ohio. I see pitbulls all over the place not muzzled like I once heard they had to be. If it was or ever is a law I don't think it's very enforced. They are definitely an image dog in the ghetto where my shop is. The ones I see usually have a logging chain for a collar and leash.

According to the documentary its much more than just muzzling. Its an outright ban on the breed. They are seeking out and euthanizing "pit bulls" (I mean to say anything that resembles a pit bull). Its some pretty deep and messed up shit imo... As for what you said, thats a picture perfect stereotype of the breed. Not in any way meaning you didnt see what you saw. The breed got its bad name from bad owners. Any true dog lover will know the truth of the breed and how amazing they really are. Unfortunately the bad image isn't going to go away anytime soon. I still meet people who say they would never own one "because they are dangerous"

Sad but true. That's why I take mine anywhere dogs are allowed. Every time I take her to Home Depot or Lowe's, you'd swear a movie star walked into the building! Everybody has to meet her! Strangers let her kiss them, and they are always blown away that it's a 'vicious' pit bull. I tell them she's a Kiss Bull, not a Pit Bull!

Well after reading I just had to watch Beyond the Myth awesome documentary. I'd love to see them try to take my dog! It'd be a hell of a fight I'd just have to move sorry......and you can't even bury your pit in Colorado.....wow just simply put very in educated people out there.

It really is sad, how ignorant people are these days. I live in a an apartment, and here in NC pits aren't allowed, but thankfully the spca didn't list my dog as a pit, but he definitely is, and people stop me all the time when we run asking about him.

Yeah my vet loves seeing my pit. She told me if the law passed here she would list him as a boxer mix on my papers, it's just sad we have to do this. To me it's just like judging a person for skin color......  |

They started banning the breed in certain cities around Detroit. I got a ticket for having my Pit in Melvidale. But i bought the dog and two more in that city before the law went into affect !! Screw them, i never went to court probably still got a warrant there.. LOL..  The APBT was the very first dog recognised by the United Kennel Club in 1898 !!! Then some dumb a$$ owners get the dog a bad name in just a coulpe decades, cause they think they're tuff to have one.. Makes me sick!!! |
