I stopped at Basspro to check a price, the handgun cabinet was empty and about half the rack. I guess I know why...

If you think about it, that number is probably lower than the actual number sold.

I was one of many at Cabela's one afternoon before Christmas purchasing firearm(s), I only did one background check.

Several people bought more than one firearm that day.

I read recently that just the hunters in the states of Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia compose the larest armed military force on the planet.

Just those 4 random states, and just the hunters.

All of this frantic buying is due to the threat of those government officials who feel that they are above the Constitution they swore an oath to defend.

Well, I don't know, but big gun law "changes" announcement coming tomorrow. Ordered everything I could that was still in stock for my rifle platforms in case certain items are outlawed.

There are a few rally cars that popped up for sale in the classifieds right now as well as a 1/6 CXT body - things I've been looking for, for a while. Funny how they pop up just before the federal gun lecture.........hmmmmmmmmm.........

It's not the NRA making statements that they would introduce legislation the first day that Congress reconvened to ban "assault" weapons. It isn't the NRA calling for total ban and confiscations. It's not the NRA passing invasive legislation. It's not the NRA stating that they feel Executive Order takes precidence over the Constituion

Ever since Obama took office in 08, firearm and ammo sales have been through the roof.

All people had to do is look at his political alliances, voting record and statements on the subject.

They referenced the fact that the last time we had a simular political enviroment, an "assault" weapon ban was in fact implemented. Haveing seen that those behind it wanted a total ban, its not unreasonable for people to think that something simular or even more restrictive could be reinstated at any time.

That is the issue that is driving so many people to make the purchases they have. The threat that if they didn't make those purchases now, they may not have the opportunity later.

My mom used to work at the cabela's gun counter...at the grand opening and for awhile after they were selling everything out constantly, she'd come home everyday and mention that days sells figures, millions of dollars went through that gun counter every week. Just insane...

If I ws a leader, and had to implement a feasible method it would be as follows.

#1.make owning weapon, or type weapon a felony with stiff penalty and no parol...

#2. allow 6 months for all gun owners to take advantage of a buy back program without conviction.

#3 even after the 6 month buy back, if you know a friend or family member who is ( harboring ) weapon. you can turn them in and get the buy back price for their guns ( bounty ) and the owner ( your friend or family ) will face no prosecution.

With this method, you will get roughly 75% of all guns, or type of gun, in the 1st yr IMO
as peole you know, will feel they are actually doing you a favor, by preventing your future arrest if they turn you in, and they get a reward.

All this for a crappy gift card? I think not. Your number will be more like 7.5 % since drugs have same style of tactics and that doesnt work as planned.

You'll have kids turning in their parents, parents turning in their kids.
you can say it won't work...but the best way to remove the guns is with this tactic...mainly, demonize the weapon, while reassuring no prosecution of your loved one if they are turned in.

Its not just the buy back, that is just a bonus incentive...The real appeal is the
fact that your loved one will eventually get caught and go to jail...and you can remove that possibility by turning them in before they get caught.

Hell I have 3 family members who would probably turn me in..
Your friends will be doing you a favor....get it.
