not sure whats up with the slow shifts, but i dont know jack about turbo setups.
i will admit the in-car was pretty badass

After some recent changes to the car, we brought it back out to set the record, then back it up with a better pass! There's more left in the car with a more aggressive tune and higher boost, but unfortunately the car is only legal to 8.50s and the season's come to an end!

We believe this to be the world's fastest pass for a mustang on a true ( synchronized ) manual transmission!

Saw that yesterday. Pretty sweet. I'm not a drag guy but my understanding is the guy has to let the revs drop a little/lot so he doesn't shear teeth off the synchros with all the power so he can actually make the shifts. Notice the large drop in rpms compared to an automatic.

So, the fact it was that fast and made it in one piece is the accomplishment.

I bet that car would be close to 1/2 second faster with a liberty/jericho trans but still very impressive to basically be granny shifting to a 8.60!

Hey everyone, I'm the owner/driver of the mustang so I thought I'd chime in. First off, I would never claim to be the fastest shifter by any means, and maybe some of you guys could out row me, but there's a few things you guys need to understand.

I could grab a 12/13 second car with a go-pro and go do some 1-4 powershifts and I'm sure you guys would be quite satisfied with how quickly I shift it.
This car is a totally different situation.

Shifting a single-brass synchro older T56 at 7500 RPM under the load of the car on a mid 8 second pass is an entirely different animal. The tranny is just a "touch" loaded when the car's doing a 1.23 60 foot. When I had the car running in the mid 9s @ 150s, I tried a few full powershifts at the track only to hear a slight grind from the synchros (similar to when you try and shift a TKO hard over 6500 RPM for any of you that have done so you may know), and that was enough to tell me that this thing would not enjoy a full powershift at 7500 with the power turned up. If I keep the car for next year I'll be looking at upgrading to the Gforce triple synchro t56, and then you'll definitely see some action.

Reason 2 is that track temps were 50*, and even on some earlier passes when the track temp was in the 70s-80s the week before, the car loved to bake the tires into the next gear on a hard shift. Fully letting off and getting back on does bring the boost in slower, and of course makes for a slower et/mph, but it also gives the tires a chance as the boost ramps in.

I knew the car had enough jam to run a number the way it was so thats how I rowed it. The car has lots more boost in it and definitely would pick up with some powershifts on better circumstances.
