Default Guide for new people

This is just my opinion your takeaway is whatever you want it to be.

1. out of the box they work well dont waste hundreds of dollars on parts because you feel like you need to "beef it up" some mods are needed or desireable dont get me wrong but metal is heavier and gets hung up on everything

Please by all means if you want hulk Hogan driving your rig or better yet macho king randy savage ooooh yeaaah

Whole point is to have fun. I dont mean to disrespect anyone but its all about having a good time. If your idea of fun is spending loads of money then by all means. I am not a millionaire so my only intentions are to give info to people maybe just trying to get into rc but don't realize how it will suck you in.

TLDR, I see alot of people just spouting the same mis-information and its really just not necessary. I could barely drive a pistol grip when I got my RC. I have been bashing it Ultra4 style and crawling the s@*& out of it. I perform periodic matinence to all parts of it and still am yet to break anything major.(This is when everyone is saying "there garbage" and "its gonna break right away") At the last race in norcal there was a RC event and a track set up and 4 stocker wraiths performed exceptionally.

Found a photo of the event. #U4RC

I preach that too. Run the crawler first. That way you'll find out what needs to be modified to fit your style of driving.

Not necessarily, but there will be lots of unused stuff that wouldn't get broken even if it wasn't replaced.

Correct. It's better to use an "action figure"...

Thanks for the advice mate

I think at the start you can really get bogged down with all the reading and videos out there.
It's hard to know what to do Truck/Upgrade wise. I am beginning to agree with you on your step 1

Its all related to what you want to do with your car and how you drive it. I prefer crawling but don't want to sacrifice my top end.
Thanks for the read

Do you also have the sinking feeling that his "Sleeper" technique will come next?

I thought this thread would have been about golden guidelines for my kids to read but no, it's about silly toy cars... Good thing my kids can't read...

"4. have fun. I dont mean to disrespect anyone but its all about having a good time. If your idea of fun is spending loads of money then by all means."

I hear this lame ass remark every damn day...

Do they think we walk around with frowns on our faces..kicking and cussing our rigs because they wont break?

Your logic is flawless...

Build it once and be done.
Replacing componets as they break..takes time off trail..takes more time from you.

Example..
you take your stock wraith out for a trailrun..
lets say the drive is 30mins to the "spot".
You arrive..get everything ready to go have fun..
You start on trail..in it for @10mins,steering breaks.
that's 1hr total down the drain.
Go home and order parts "beef" as it was put.
wait 2-4days.
install back to "spot"
Get back on trail and the links break.
Ahh..another 1hr down the drain.
Back home to order more parts..and wait for "beef" to show and install.

When all this wasted time could have been avoided by building it right the 1st time.

Building it right doesn't mean a lot of $$..its the right parts in the right places.

It's so great when someone with one months experience on this furum can give such worldly advise.....

Sorry, but I think this is a hell of a lot cooler picture than if there were no driver.

I would subscribe to it if he did and see how he does...I would be a very strict judge.
