Default Lest We Forget

Today if any day should be one to forget about our stupid sh#t and the things that might piss us off about the current state of affairs.
Time to remember how bad things could or have really been at times in the past and the people who served then and now and the terrible sacrifices they made/make for us.
In Canada its Rememberance Day and the U.S. its Veterans Day.
Cheers.

Sometimes i think we forget or just don't realize how lucky we are , living here and having all of are veterans to thank for the freedoms we have.

I got the chance today to shake the hands of several ww2 and Korean veterans. I always make it a point to thank any service member when I meet them. Thank you for your service to our country.

Slightly edited to make a better point IMHO......

"We live in a world that has walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with guns. Who's gonna do it? You? We have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for dead foreigners, and you curse the military. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what we know, that a persons death, while tragic, probably saved lives. And our existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, saves lives! You don't want the truth, because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, you want us on that wall. You need us on that wall. We use words like "honor", "code", "loyalty". We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something. You use them as a punchline. We have neither the time nor the inclination to explain ourselves to men and women who rises and sleep under the blanket of the very freedom that we provide, and then questions the manner in which we provide it! We would rather you just said "thank you", and went on your way. Otherwise, we suggest you pick up a weapon, and stand a post."
