| Flex is overrated
Now, it isn't such a big deal (thank God) on this forum. But i'm also on some Facebook groups and it seems like flex is more important these days then driversskils. When and where did it go wrong? I see more flexing pictures and shelvequeens in some groups and on some forums then hardcore trailing and crawling cars. Maybe that is why i like this RCC forum so much.... . Most of the time i see and read people here who also have a sincere passion for the hobby. Just had to get it off my chest.... |

That happens when your goal is to impress people that know as much or even less than you do about what you're doing.

i agree. too much flex is bad. when with a droop set up. i've seen guys running 128mm shocks with 90mm springs. the flex is ungawdly but on a steep hill the up hill side unloads and it rolls. scx10 gets 90mm and wraith gets 100mm. thats my secret.

I'd love to build an ultra low cog rig with no suspension and square off with one of the flex tards. I wonder what would happen.

Just like everything else in the world, someone has something, and thinks they'll over do something to the max because no-one has done it before and the world will be in awe, at how they have pushed the boundaries and chartered new territory, explored new ideas and pushed the limits of physics to the point of incomprehension. Then we look at their photos on facebook and laugh at them. |

It's the same in 1:1 world. People get mad when you ask them "How many Forklifts forks have you had to go over at a trail ride?"

I'm sure we do. We have people driving holden commodores with chevorolet badges, so it wouldn't surprise me. I actually wouldn't mind lifting my hilux with a forklift, never really seen it flex up properly. I see guys on the road with massive lifts and huge tyres and v8's in there hilux's. Mine has 2" lift a 4cyl and 33's. Goes where everyone else goes and doesn't break. haha |

I've used a forklift when setting up shock mounts and whatnot so I don't see any issue with it. I tend to use terrain to find the travel though. |

Flex is definitely overated. Yeah, it looks cool, but if it doesn't improve the performance of the vehicle then what's the point? Never had my 1:1 on a forklift, but here's how I've checked suspension travel. Turns out I either need spring retainer clips or limiting straps. |

It's only gone wrong if you aren't charging people $700 (or was it $1000???) to do this to their Wraith: |
