Lol, your username reminded me of a local politician named Valter Flego, the first time I saw it on URC |

"Bones! Do something! You've gotta revive that website!" "Dammit Jim, I'm a doctor, not a magician!" "It's dead, Jim." ----------------------- I will miss URC, but not because of Jang. I liked his reviews OK, but it was easy to see that he was/is a bit of a control freak. Typical engineer. I should know - I R one. Rather, I mourn the loss of a tremendous data mine from talented RC addicts who were willing to share their knowledge in detail. Some of them had it duplicated at other locations. Those who did not, lost it all. |

Yeah, I appreciated billdelong and his tech articles. Luckily some were ported over to rcgroups, but not enough of them. I even offered to buy URC from jang at one point when he was talking about how much trouble it was to keep it going after his Lego channel got so big, but he posted a few times that he was going to keep it and remain the only admin. Guess that didn't work out.

I've always thought that was the real shame, so much info and tech stuff based around non-racing, bashing rigs is just lost...like tears in the rain. |

I have some untouched full-page URC decal sheets... JANG sent me both Ultimate Tamiya (I think these are water-slide type) and Ultimate Traxxas (sticker type). I always really liked him, loved his project vehicles, but admittedly haven't been around the site in many, many, years. I may someday need to make tribute bodies and use those up! Fortunately, Bill Delong's tech is mostly duplicated on RC Groups and RC Tech. To be honest, although I miss that forum too, most of that tech was on platforms and vehicles that are either obsolete, or are so old that the information is easily available elsewhere. The thing I miss the most about that site was the ECX forum. I learned a lot on that forum and also contributed a lot. |

I have to say though, the production quality and presentation he did in his videos is still rarely matched. Vas has modeled himself after Jang, but he isn't as comfortable doing the presentation as jang was. | |

IMHO, he was a pioneer in the world of radio controlled vehicles, both customizing and with his online content. I would have been very disappointed myself to be as vested as he was only to then have to move to where he could not run his projects without driving miles away...

| Re: URC down? For sure. In many ways, Jang's videos seemed like they'd be about as interesting as watching paint dry, but somehow he managed to keep you engaged right until the end. In the absence of Jang's videos, there's no one replacement, but Vas is definitely one of the better ones. Vas has definitely settled into a rhythm that works for him. I like RC Overload too, especially his driving videos. The production quality of his "studio" footage is nothing special, but his outdoor crawls are well shot and well produced. I'm trying to learn from him and a few others to make my videos suck less.
