bizklimpkit hardly pioneered that style of music. You can start with RunDMC, come up to Faith No More (listen to The Real Thing), and then really break it open with the sound track from a movie that most people have forgotten: Judgement Night. From there it sunk in a little, I had a band in highschool that was formed about two weeks after we heard the Judgement Night sound track for the first time that was an effort to emulate the style of music on the sound track. You want a new sound? Something fresh? Look on another planet.

They were the first commercial success of "hard" rock mixed with rap. the aerosmith sound was more classic/pop rock. limp was on the forefront of this music style that was like a wall of sound. Korn and the deftones were apart of this aswell, they had the low tunings ( korn started the whole 7 string craze too, with the down tunings) and the parts that were real repetitive and drove the beat along.

what i ment to convey in my first post was that they were the first with heavy guitars.

-pentatonic scale riff
-noisy guitar 'solo'
-lyrics complaining about the injustices of the world all while being signed to $ony records

just my 2 cents.
that was why they eventually brokeup. (but now there back together, prolly for the money..) but it was so zach ( the lead singer) could get out and "fight the man" some more.

they became popular by selling there home made cassette tapes throughout california. they sold so many that they were noticed and that was the basis for there first album. i believe that they used the majority of there material for the first recorded cd from there tape.

i said commercial success..

amazon.com album sales ranks limp in 12,000 range and anthrax in the 130,000 range

for example metallica is 813

now before you discredit that, that reflects what has sold or selling record wise. and that is all time sales/popularity since amazon was created in 95 and started selling music before 99.

nope. both run dmc and the beastie boys used kerry king from slayer to lay down guitar tracks. korn, limp whatever, etc. could only wish to be as heavy as kerry king.

HaHa....Bring the Noise WAS a commercial success.

BTW, in regard to your Amazon reference, how can you use those numbers to compare the bands' sales. Anthrax put out their first album almost 10 years before Amazon came around.

I just wish that there was a system to actually rate musical tallent, gross sales doesn't prove a band is worth anything. It only proves that someone is stupid enough to listen to it.

There is no band in existance that could possibly suck worse that Nirvana, maybe the Foo Fighters, but its a tough call.

EDIT

BJoe, most of the bands that actually understand the full concept of music are considered crap by most people. You would be surprised what talent lies beneath some of the extreme metal bands.

There is no talent in playing the same grouping of power chords with some goofy breakdown mid song.

i couldn't agree with you more on that. my favorite band is dream theater, with songs that frequently go over 15 min. people are turned off by it because you actually have to listen to the song because it doesn't follow the "radio" song formats.

Dream Theater would be cool if it were not for the singer. He ruins it for me.

Liquid Tension Experiment is alot better.
