All electric motors are "waterproof". Not really waterproof, it's just that water doesn't affect them adversely since there's no electrics in them (just magnets and wire basically). A common way to break in a brushed motor (seating the brushes) is to run it under water. I would recommend lubing the bearings/bushings after running it under water, and blasting out the inside with motor cleaner to prevent any possible rusting or accumulation of crap inside the motor. |

"Alright stop whatcha doin cuz im about to ruin, the image and the style that yer used to." From the 1/4" thick corrosion on my WheelChair Super after being in the river for 38 hours powered up, I can tell you: Any place there is a positive current, corrosion will form over time. When I got it back the packs read under two and a half volts. Thats why I got the Mamba Max, it CAN GO COMPLETELY UNDER WATER. There is a video of a mamba 25 connected to a mamba motor in a bucket of water. Search for: waterproof mamba Is it a good idea to run unprotected with the USB port? No. Little dielectric grease goes a long way! Never stopped me from gettin busy. I'm a freak. Last edited by WheelChair; 08-22-2007 at 04:35 PM. |

No man. The EVX was completely filled with epoxy and that made it waterproof. We had it submerged many times. Never had a problem. 38 hours is a different story. a 5 or 10 min dunk in the lake doesn't seem to do much other then clean everything. After years I am SURE there would have to be corrosion. But the river conducted between the heatsinks, and anyone who knows EVX knows if the heat sinks short, Its toast. I bought the Mamba Max because the EVX failed. Have not dunked it for 38 hours but its been wet plenty.... Keeps it cool. |

My Mamba 25 is completely waterproof... had it dunked several times, no issues... My Mamba max on the other hand doesn't seem to like water. It's been wet 3-4 times, and it just starts to glitch like crazy and refuses to start up the motor... take the case apart and let it dry for a couple hours, and it runs fine. The water doesn't really seem to damage it... it just stops working while it is wet. |

We Spotted it with the spotlight after many many hours of scraping the bottom with a 20' length of conduit with a hook welded to the end. It was about 40 feet out from the Ice in the middle of the huge pool 50 feet from where it went in. I could see the white rims, Evil Ed actually spotted it first. I told Ed, alright man, I'm gonna go get it.... about 2 mins passed as I thought about the freezing water and how far home was. Finally I went for it! I got to the edge of the ice with the 20' pole and I had to get in to the Freezing water up just over my knees, walk out 20' and reach the rest of the way with the pole with a hook on it. At first I was surprised that it was not that cold.... Little did I know, the Carhart bibs held the water off my legs till I got about 10 feet out. When it hit, all I could do was scream like a little girl and go faster! I hooked a link as it was upside down drug it up to the ice and grabbed it. I tried running back to the truck because it was below zero that night, but my legs started not working and I almost fell on my face! So With my legs going numb and about 40 pounds of water held in my Carhart bibs we made it back to the truck, Ed called up the woman and told her I went in the river so she was ready with warm towels and fresh clothes! It took over an hour for my legs to start to feel better. The sad thing... I'll probably do it again. |

Clod axles, stock silver cans with a evx running 14.4 volts work well for the mud. |

I at least started with a mildly muddy shot, LOL. NICE! Mine has TLT axles, silver can, Associated AI Super Reverse Electronic Digital Speed Control, 6 cell 3000mah battery, pede tranny. It'll spin'em. As a side note the Associated AI Super Reverse Electronic Digital Speed Control brakes it self instead of coasting to a stop, works really well for crawling down hills.
