I agree

It's a great idea, There has been talk of a scaler event in our club MNRCRC. I'm hoping we get it together for next year.

rear steer would be cool. make for some very interesting course setups.

needs to be something like this to make it worth having a whole other class for. cant just make the rigs smaller.

suggestions on tube chassis dimensions....

min. 3" height;
min. 3.25" width (cant really make it any thinner and still fit a trans/motor)
min. 6.75" length.

The dimensions sound like a good idea, but the rear steer I dont agree on. I think this should be more of a rock racer type of class insted of just a bunch of 2.2 tubers with smaller tires.

w/o rear steer that is exactly what it will be. rear steer is not allowed in 2.2.

exactly. That is why I say only run original 1.9 tires. Easier, cheaper, harder to crawl/race with=more fun.

4.25" tires max, max 10" wheelbase tube chassis - no limit on the chassis dimensions (you can only go so small). I see no need to limit axle width either.

1.9" rim only?

I'd still like to see a chassis mounted battery. I think that it will keep things more interesting. But WB and tire size sound great, oh yeah, and 1.9 I haven't seen any crawlers rollin' on superbling 22" wheels and low profile tires

actually i like pinchflat's suggestion. 8cells and a brushless system would be fun with a truck that small.

bad idea. trust me, you need min. dimensions. people get very crafty when the rules are too loose.

Well then same as the 2.2 class. 8" long, 3" wide, 3.75" tall... this should make them look like true scale buggies.

It sounds like alot of people are showing interest. How many groups/clubs are actually gonna run them in the comps?

I know it's at least 5 or 6 in the ArkLaMiss group

The Carolina Rock Runners group will run what ever classes will go at Nationals.

We are game for anything, we have enough talented builder here.

But if it is not a class for Nationals, what is the benefit of running this class instead of Scale? Isn't the point of 1.9 to make it easier to find hard terrain? Why make 1.9s that are ultra capable?

At our next event (Nov 11th) we have 2.2 comp and 1.9 scale. Arround here not many people have the time or money to build more then one rig, so introducing another class would dilute one of the others.

I love the idea of having a rockin 1.9 buggy, but that would take the place of my 1.9 scale rig.

I've been trying to work out rules for a 1.9 comp class for our group too. I figured it was only a matter of time before it happened. Mainly because of tires.

I scaled down the 1/10th rules and came up with 10.5" as a max wheelbase. I'm curious to see how the 10" WB works out though.

Here is the list I had going (with some help from the NOSTR members). Mostly pulled from the 2.2 class. We took out tire size restrictions but I'm thinking 4.5" might be good.

1.9 Class

- Vehicle wheelbase is a maximum 10.5”
- Vehicle track width is a maximum 10.5”
- Limited to 1.9 inch wheels or smaller
- Limited to 4 wheeled vehicles only
- Vehicles are limited to 2-wheel steering only
- You must run a body (full tube chassis is acceptable)
- The body must be 1/12th scale or larger
- The body can be cut/modified but must retain %70 of its original form, but the width of the cab must be the factory width.
- Body should resemble its original form (jeep bodies look like jeeps)
- Course will be timed. Time based upon course configuration. Timing out on course results in a DNF (Time may be used for tie breaker)
