The xv01 from tamiya looks to bet the weapon of choice right now. I run a tamiya df03ra in class 1 and a ta02 in class 2 with the drive shaft removed for rear wheel drive. I personally haven't had luck with rtr kits. Stripped screws, tons of locktite, gear mesh not set up right. In my opinion if you want a good car , build it yourself. Tamiya kits are really easy to build, and pretty fun!

Ive always wanted to check out the rally legends rc line to see how well they work against the tamiya cars.

I've been wondering the same thing. Can't seem to find anything to actually purchase though.

I'll be mostly running at The Crawl Space track since Hoon470 is a little bit of a drive for me.
The Kyosho is a great vehicle, but unfortunately there is not a class for it this year in the series because of its massive size. Even at the Crawl Space you will have a tough time getting around the track.

The TT-01 is eh, its not built for the rigors of rally and they end up self destructing and becoming money pits pretty quickly. The Tamiya DF03Ra is a very solid platform that can take some abuse after slight modification, but is not the best driving vehicle out there. For that hands down it's the Tamiya XV-01. Great driving car that can handle tons of abuse after a couple of upgrades. It has been the vehicle of choice for the last year during racing and everything else. And we have two classes it can race in (potentially). Since the Crawl Space will be running events based on the existing CRC rules that is where I would start.

Personally I recommend the Castle Creation Mamba Max Pro and a 4600kv motor. There are less expensive alternatives out there from Hobby King, but the reliability and warranty of castle creations is hard to beat.

You are welcome!

Also the little one and myself will be at HOON470 tomorrow at 10am. We will be doing some driving and if anyone wants to come out drive the new track layout, check out the cars, watch or just ask questions feel free to come on out.

Please do not drive on the BMX jumps. we have a good understanding with those guys, "we don't mess with their jumps and they don't mess with our track".

The directions get buried pretty quickly in these threads.

We will be having a build day at HOON470 this saturday from 10-2. We could use all the help we can get preparing the track for the coming year and Scale Nationals in April.
