Default Should the 2009 Super and OA title be taken away?

If the facts show and are proven that an illegal body was used (and called out by a judge) in the super class at worlds this year, should those courses be scored as a dq and titles taken away?

I voted for "yes" but I think I want to change my answer.
I think the offender should apologize for running an out of spec body and give up his title, I don't think the title should be taken away.

As far as I'm concerned it is the drivers responsibility to make sure their rigs are within spec, not the judges. His rig was out of spec and it's his responsibility to own up to that fact.

Yes I agree the title should taken away and everything that person won should go to the next in line and so on.

Rules state that if a rig is out of spec, it must be brought to spec or it will recieve a DQ on the course. If he/she ran it out of spec on any courses, it is DQ.

This thread isn't about anyone specific, so lets keep it that way.

I agree, the rules are very clear and if a "driver" were to compete w/ an out of spec body, a DQ is in order.

Yes, it should be taken away. Rules are rules and they are there for a reason!

Yes I think it should be taken away...

I am a race director for the NHRDA, two times this year we have had trucks not meet weight requirements and could got give the drivers national records, and another time the driver did not have a current NHRA license (which you have to have to go under 10 seconds) and that was another national record not given. All of the drivers were very cool about it, surprisingly... They just said we will be legal at the next race and that was that. So it is quite easy to not give out national or world records or titles if the participant is not meeting the required specifications for the given class, you just have step up and do it.

Maybe I am harsh but if the judge, spotted it and the driver did not change the body, the driver should have been DQ'd right there, no matter who it is.

My 2 cents...
yes, should be taken away and given to the next in line. This problem should have been caught during Tech/ and the driver should have fixed it before starting any of the courses.

It would be better if the driver would apologize & step down, thus avoiding a big brouhaha.

But if that doesn't happen, then absolutely it should be yanked and given to the next in line.

I have posted that I don't care for the body rule, but, I do care about the fairness of comps. As has been stated before, rules are rules, and no one should be given an exception over another.

Any other form of racing/competion, if your rig does not pass tech you are DQ'd

Some forms of competition only tech the top 5 or 10, so your rig better pass if you pull a podium finish.

whats fair is fair. rules are rules..... the fair thing to do would be to man or woman up and take the penalty. if that means you loose because of it so be it. know the rules, stay within them and let your driving speak for itself.

I see 3 votes that think the title should not be taken away, yet no post defending their votes?

That would be nice if people had enough integrity to do so, but with cash prizes on the line, I doubt that would happen.

The driver should want to be in spec so he doesn't have to make changes at the last minute, however, it should be the tech judge's responsibility to catch out of spec trucks prior to running.
IMO rules should be written to have all USRCCA sanctioned comps run the same. A tech station prior to running, then the top finishers subject to rechecking.
Having the course judges check the truck prior to running their course takes too much time, and is subject to being forgotten, or not consistent.

i voted yesas well, even in drag racing and any other type of sport like that is a dq, i have seen people race and then they get tech afterwards and a dq was handed to them so it should apply here as well
