Quick Q, how long of a hike are we talking about? Just wondering in case I go and bring my fam along (have a 6 y/o daughter that acts like she is 16). Thanks and might go for the drive to make this comp, its either 2 1/2 hrs or 4 hrs for the comps this weekend .

It's not too bad 1/2 mile maybe? The family will dig it,it's a cool area!

I don't even think it was a quarter mile, actually, some small uphill and downhill, bring boots for sure. It's worth the drive, the granite is awesome

Here is a few pics of the area from the last comp we had up at Bald Rock!!!!
You park in area surrounded by tall trees, from there you walk through the forest of trees and it opens up to what you see below, it is a absolutely beautiful area. There is also trails to go hiking on if any of you bring your families and they want to go explore the area...

I'm heading up there at 1 or 2pm today to plan out the courses and check it out. I'll make the final call when I get back.

BUT......I am 99.9% sure right now that Bald Rock is the place to be. There hasn't been any low snow lately and we'll have plenty of traction even if it were raining.....so bring a towel and plastic bags in case of rain or a puddle tumble and prepare yourselves to tackle some Bald.

99.9% sounds like there is still a .1% chance of it not being at Bald Rock. I think we are safe with Bald Rock. Andy likes the rain anyways

Alright everybody........Bald Rock is ON!

I took the Oro Dam Blvd exit and drove the speed limit all the way to the Rock.......it took me 40 minutes. From the freeway you will drive East on Oro Dam to Olive Hwy (HWY 162) turn Right and drive til your odometer hits 17.2 miles (from the freeway)......turn right on Bald Rock Rd and drive til you hit 23.7 miles on the odometer.....the parking area is on the left.

The trail to the comp site will be marked so look for that.

Me and the crawling Qeen just want to say thank you to NCVRCC for a great comp..Course #3 gate #3 yuck!! It seemed to just get worse and worse....hope some one made a clean pass..
