Yes, I think 1 point is fair. It helps the people who have uber-scale rigs that don't perform as well to stay competitive on, or finish, the courses.

A hevy penalty for winching makes the rules lean towards more capable, less-scale rigs. Scale competition should be a balance between performance and looks and I think the rules should help equalize the rigs that are biased one way or the other.

Ok 2 of you stated that you disagree now STFU and quit jacking off my thread.

Scale Realism??? Give me a freakin break who would take a rig into an area that they had to winch every 1000 feet? I just would like to see the rules encourage people to drive rather then winch everything.

I would rather see HERA use a reverse and get a running start to clear the gate, then pull out a freaking winch.

I thought it was great before when it was +2. Made you think about using it rather than just pulling it out. Plus, if you rolled over it made you think about whether it was worth using the winch for +2 or just taking the roll for +5. Now it's a no brainer, just pull out the winch. I still think +3 is the sweet spot....definitely makes you use the winch as a last resort.

im with you on this one steve.I think a straight pull should be 6 points and pull useing a block should be 5.I mean if you guys wana be scale about it i use a block 75% of the time when i HAVE to winch my toyota around and thats because i tried and tried and tried and usally ended up on my side

steve im with you. I think it should be more about trying to drive your rig instead of taking the easy way out.

While I think that 2-3 is the better choice you have to remember that time plays into all of this. You don't have time to winch through a whole course. I took 2 3rds instead of 2 2nds last year just because of time.

This is the only rule I dont like either.

In my view, with as serious as competitions can be, this lower winch penalty encourages people to pull up to a hard, fun, signature obstacle of a course a pull line before even trying it. Makes for lame video, lame pictures, unhappy viewers and depressed course designers.

Make the penalty 2 or 3 and it'll be back to encouraging people to actually drive the fun lines.

You're still on the clock. If you can pull cable for every obstacle and still finish the course in time, the gates are too close together. If you HAVE TO pull cable for every obstacle, your rig sucks and/or you can't drive. If everyone has to winch every obstacle, it's time to lynch the guy who laid out the course.

I agree with steve. the idea of a 3pt winch fits perfect. I dont care how good you think you are that you are exempt because you built a better rig, you will need to winch, and when you do, you just want one point to make it a competition no brainer. That isnt scale, that is competitive rc winching haha. I want to have to try something before pulling winch line. it is for sissies haha, hasnt some people ever been real wheelin? winch bitch is not a commandering term.
