Edit: I misread the thing. The gears will not hold up regardless, like Rockfrog mentioned the 454s are too powerful. You could try a banesbot motor instead, that should give torque without destroying the thing.

And just how much battery are you feedin' those 454's with? NiMh/ LiPo? 2s, 3s? 7.2v? 14.4v?
It's simple fact that regardless of Duratrax's plans or intentions the CC is never going to be anything more than a basher. If you want to throw a big motor at questionable parts, you are going to break stuff. The 454's are equivalent to a small package stock 540, or simply just too much motor for the Cliff Climber to survive for long, metal gears or not. Get in a bind and apply too much throttle trying to power out of a bad situation and yep .... there goes another gear.

http://banebots.com/pc/MOTOR-BRUSH/M5-RS390-12

Check this thread out, it has all the info on finding a decent motor.
Is this a crawler motor for the C.C. ?

I tried 454 with Lipo 2S2P, Novak Rooster Crawler, metal gears and ball bearings. Mt gears lasted something like half an hour. And my car was REALLY too fast. I rewinded my 454 to 35 turns (35*2) and now, I have the perfect wheel speed and plenty of torque

For the metal gears,do they sell a kit where they are all included instead of buying seperate?I have a cc that I am putting together and have no experience with these, mostly run axial or tlt based rigs.

No, that would make far too much sense. You have to buy each gear seperately. And now that it's a discontinued product ... well ... you do the math on that one.

Its to bad, because for the price of them and a little effort, they can be a great little rig.I am trying to assemble this one I have for the kids to use on the backyard course so not too worried about it being run hard, but what are some of the things to watch for in most peoples opinions?I am going to lengthen the wheel base a bit and make custom upper an lower links and different wheels/tires.
