three amps should be enough for most servos. only the most powerful digital servos would draw more. you could get more power from an rx pack if you needed or wanted to try it. the power that an rx pack can provide is determined by its discharge rate- even a cheap pack can put out 8 amps continuous.

since these packs have a higher mah, do they take longer to charge?

thanks again! you have been very helpfull!
as long as your charger can charge at a higher amperage, the larger capacity (mah) batteries wont take any longer. the drawback to using larger capacity batteries is that they are a bit heavier. a 6 cell gp 3300 pack is one ounce heavier than a 6 cell sanyo 3000 pack. its not much, but some people count those ounces- they do add up to pounds.

all cells have a maximum charge and discharge rate. most cells wont charge faster than 30minutes or more. 45 minutes to an hour is standard for an rx pack. the smaller cells cant handle as much abuse.
