| Servo Actuators , get them to make the correct size !
Anyone have the inside scoop on these Awesome Actuators? or am I missing info somewhere... As some of you know servo actuators are available :-P ! ( Looks like Hydro assist) Problem is, Either they are under power and fast or high power and slow but the size is pretty small . See Firgelli.com On the other hand there is 7" long ultra high power (55lbs)Servo actuators that are just to big. from Servo city. I think if we would call them and give them demand I think one of the manufacturer would start making them. I spoke to Firgelli and they are just swamped in sales ! They where Very nice on the phone ? Question is which manufacturer do we call first? Firgelli in Canada or Servo City.com in USA I say USA Servo City Servo city : 44mm travel (1.75" Thrust 50 lbs 222.4n at 6.35mm/s ! static load 500 LBS voltage 4.8/6v dc 55 lbs of power plugs into receiver 7 inches long http://www.robotshop.ca/home/product...-actuator.html could use what they have today for DIG Firgelli company site 1-88 225-9198 Where to buy and specs L12 Specifications Gearing Option 30:1, 63:1, 100:1, 210:1, 298:1 Peak Power Point 1 8 N @ 14 N @ 23 N @ 45 N @ 67 N @ 16 mm/s 8 mm/s 6 mm/s 2.5 mm/s 2 mm/s Peak Efficiency Point 4.5 N @ 7.5 N @ 12 N @ 18 N @ 30 N @ 23 mm/s 12 mm/s 8 mm/s 4 mm/s 3 mm/s Max Speed (no load) 33 mm/s 16 mm/s 12 mm/s 5 mm/s 4 mm/s Backdrive Force 2 27 N 55 N 80 N 150 N 230 N Positional Accuracy 0.2 mm 0.2 mm 0.1 mm 0.1 mm 0.1 mm Stroke Option 10 mm 30 mm 50 mm 100 mm Weight 35 g 37 g 39 g 43 g Max Side Force 50 N 40 N 30 N 15 N A while back CCFBERG listed these on his thread Last edited by toy4crawlin; 08-12-2008 at 12:04 AM. |

This has already been covered in several previous threads..... Do a search under "Firgelli" to see all the past discussion. Narly1 |

So you guys talk about it a lot here, but how does that get to the Manufacturer ????? Has anyone called them ????? . . . . . . Ok I just wrote to both Servo city and firgelli basically telling them that our community is very excited about an actuator that would fit our needs. That our crawler tend to have 2-4 servos and like the small compact size. I asked if they will be producing an actuator under 4" long best at 2-3", travel 30mm a sec and have 20+ lbs of power. How does that sound ? Last edited by toy4crawlin; 08-09-2008 at 12:14 PM. |

Firgelli wrote back " At this point we dont have that in the works, but we will consider it when designing the next actuators. Cheers Cindy " Maybe better luck with Servo City How many of you would like Mini Servo actuators ? start a Poll |

Hmm, looks very interesting. I curious as to where you would use one on a rig? Forced articulation maybe?

The whole thing is just: an Inrunner motor, a gearbox and a linear actuator. If you could get all the parts together you could make one. You should also look at Baldor linear motor. They make a very nice 4mm dia unit that looks like it could do the job strength & speed wise.

these mini actuators are a great compliment for Steering and DIG. Baldor linear motor-- > that's more industrial, not comparable to the others trying to build my axles and big servo looks real ugly still waiting to heat from Servo city, they list a 10 lbs 2" per second Actuator So I asked what size is it. ? need to know How to start a poll and find the interest and go to these people to get them to make them to fit. The servo city one is huge. I have a few of the L12 from firgelli. So far I can't figure out how to mount it for steering, but they seem to be good for scale bits. The smaller version would be good for dig, and nothing more. I chose the 100:1 geardown and 6v for the RC input, and 12v for the DC input with limiters. Just gotta mount the sucker so it doesn't hit stuff when the wheels turn. |

The RC version has a 3 wire plug and there is also one with 2 wires and even 5 wires | |

I can't believe my eyes All these great scale builds and complaints of big servos and yet I don't see anyone saying they are going to call to put these in more demand ???: Call Servo city and put a demand on these |

I won't put any in my store until I can figure out how to mount the dang things. They need two pivoting mounts and the axle case gets in the way.

23N is the same as a 65 oz-in servo with 20mm servo horn i´m working on a kit get linear motion from rc servo´s with a Hitec 5955 around 400N and 16-20mm/s |

They dont look very strong, but thats what i thaught about normal servo's. I might try some out for my scaler and see what happens!

It should be noted that a standard servo's torque is measured at the output shaft, not at the end of the servo arm/horn. A linear actuator has it's own limitations, I.E. length, but look at the way they (and hydraulic rams for that matter) are mounted on the full size rigs or even on tractors. Might give you a few ideas Last edited by KnutKase; 09-07-2008 at 02:01 PM. Reason: Clarity |
