DX6 is older....but easier to modify for spring return on the throttle gimble. It uses the DSM technology from Spektrum. The screen is not as pretty or informative. It is discontinued, but can be found in good shape for $60-$80. Receivers are about $50 each. (Model AR6000) DX6i is newer.....not really modifiable by the user, and needs to be sent in to have the throttle gimble modified. This radio uses the DSM2 technology from Spektrum. These can be had for $170 +/-. They can use the AR6000 RX....or the newer DSM2 stuff. Channel mixing is described in the manual....that is how I figured it out. Here is a RCC link that describes THROTTLE MIXING....similar theory works for the 3 position dig...except instead of mixing the throttles CH 1 & 3...you would mix CH 5 & 6 for switch activated dig. http://www.rccrawler.com/dx6.html Here is a link to mixing CH 5 & 6 for 3 position dig DX6 - DIG Setup for VF DIG Here is a DX6 throttle return mod instruction link (NOT DX6i) DX6 Throttle Return Spring Mod Instructions

is it possible to put a 3 position switch in the 5th and/or 6th channel? i have seen people running a 3 postion off one of the stick channels. it would really be like the tq3 mod but what wires would you solder to were?

or technically couldn t i order the md1 and use the non sprung stick for the dig. i just hate to lose 2 channels for the dig or start digging around a brand new $200 radio! |

I do not believe that it is possible to make 5 or 6 into a 3 position. If you mix 5 & 6 for DIG, that still leaves 4 stick channels for steering and throttle....and possible rear steer. AND STILL have another channel free.

well i can t find any good pictures of the inside but if it has three wires running to the 5th and 6th channel then it would be possible. i don t really want to tie up the 5th and 6th channel, well it really doesnt matter on my comp rig, but for my scaler i would like to either run a r2 dual dig tranny and would also like a winch too. that is why i was thinking of either putting a 3 position swtich for one of the sticks or use the non sprung stick for the dig. also on the mixing part, if i understand right i can mix 2 channels with each other or one by itself and i can do this twice right? so i could mix 5 and 6 (if i cant figure out another way to do dig) and mix the rear steer with the front. but here is my question, can i mix them independently or when i throw the mix switch it is going to mix both channels and i will have to be careful either by watching where the dig switches are or watch i don t bump the steering. this will only be on my scalers |

I have a DX6....I made the part myself out of 1/8" thick Lexan from Home Depot. The DX6i requires being sent in. I heard that they only ask that you pay for shipping. But I would call to verify at this time.
