| Which one of these servos for steering?
I have a few servos that I could install in my new Honcho, and I'm wondering between these 2. I have a Hitec 5955TG, but it's overkill imho, so I'm trying to decide between Hitec 645MG Speed: 0.24 sec/60° at 4.8V 0.20 sec/60° at 6.0V Torque: 106.93 oz-in at 4.8V 133.31 oz-in at 6.0V Futaba S9402 Speed: .12 sec/60° @ 4.8V .10 sec/60° @ 6V Torque: 89 oz-in @ 4.8V 111 oz-in @ 6V I guess it's really down to twice as fast, vs a little more torque. Since it's only a stock honcho, it shouldn't need alot of muscles to turn the little 1.9's? Last edited by Hordsak; 03-18-2010 at 04:57 PM. |

If you spend a little more, get the Digital Hitec 5645MG. It has a lot more torque, and will actually center. I've had nothing but BAD luck with the 645MG's... they've never centered for me.

| Ahh I hear ya, thing is I already have them laying around. I mean, I could go hog wild and put in the 5955, but it just seems like extreme overkill in a 1/10 Trail truck hehe

I'd go with the 645 over the Futaba if that's the case. |

Between those 2 servos I would go with the 645. I have had good luck with mine. But recently I found a good deal on a 5955tg and I have no intention of putting the 645 back in. So my suggestion, if you have all the servos just laying around go with the 5955, you will not regret it!! You would be surprized at how much torque you need. I am running an scx10 with the 1.9's as well.

645 hands down. That's what I started with. Plus it's my back up if my upgraded sevro takes a dump. |

Yeah, I'm using the 645 right now, but I can tell I could benefit from a little more torque. I might just slam my 5955 in there.

| Overkill? No such thing. Look at it this way: YOU ALREADY HAVE THE 5955 - and it's not being used? It's not like you are going to buy one - you already have it! Put the 5955 on and have fun! John R |

I'd run your qoute "overkill" in it. But between other two, the 645mg would be fine with 1.9'ers.

I fried my 645 in my SCX-10 so I bought a Toward Pro MG996R to replace it. Didn't want to spend much so for less than the price of one 645 I bought two new MG996R servos off ebay. They don't have quite the positioning accuracy as the 645 but they have more torque than the 645 does. Have been running the TP servo for a while now and it works well. Just throwing out another option. Heres a link to a US seller. http://cgi.ebay.com/2-x-MG996R-Metal...item5ad6df1253 Last edited by dkf; 03-20-2010 at 06:25 AM. |

the 645 is the way id go between the 2, ive run lots of them and they never let me down. i just upgraded to a hs985, its 178oz.in and much quicker than the 645, it would be ausome in a scaler.
