| VP dig keeps blowing servo
I'm running an Axial AX10 ARTR with a VP dig and Hitec HG225MG mini servo. The radio is a DX3R. I've got the aux set to 3 position, trimmed to centre the VP arm and backed off to 75% so the dig engages but doesn't bottom out. When I set it up and tested it the servo would move and wouldn't make any noise like it was binding. The last servo lasted about 10 minutes in 4x4 position before it seemed to slip and stopped working. Does anyone have any ideas on what might be happening? I'm kinda at a loss. |

Yep, it sounds like you have too much travel. Lower the Aux travel to about 40%. If it still engages properly, then run it....if not, then slowly increase the travel.

If I recall though if it was much less it wouldn't catch and slip. I took one of the servo's apart and connected a battery to the motor, the motor spins both ways. Almost like the little pcb is fried. I have my FX-R mounted to the top of the servo, perhaps the speed controller is affecting it? I double checked my BEC. I had it set to 6.5V but I can't imagine an extra half a volt would have killed it. Last edited by Coops; 11-20-2010 at 09:14 PM. |

did you turn the frame rate down for the 225 since its not a digital servo

Thanks for that. I've got a 645 I can use the pcb out of just to try it. Correct me if I'm wrong, but would using a digital servo like the HS-5245MG solve the issue? As for the frame rate, I think I had it on 11ms. I'm using a HS-7955TG for the steering servo and it doesn't seem to matter what the frame rate is, it still twitches a bit.

| VF/DNA/BWD Dig Unit - How to set your EPA's I used this thread from Billet Works to first set up my DNA dig with 645mg servo and then my VP Hurtz, 225mg, and DX3r. I've never had an issue with either configuration. Keep your frame rate at 11 ms. Using a digital servo wouldn't help, From what I've been told a frame rate change does not affect the Aux channel and nothing would be gained. |

When i had my hurtz i used a hitec 81mg servo never had any probs like describing. The way i set up a dig servo is center everything so servo is in 4wd then turn the EPAs down to like 5 and slowly work up to get engagemant.

That's pretty much how I set it up the first time. Centred the servo, installed the horn and slowly increased the % travel until 4wd and dig were engaged good but not bottoming out.
