Question a good motor

Well i have come to the conclusion that my brushed 27t axial motor is about ready to go. It was good while it lasted lol. What would be a good motor thats in a 16 year olds price range that would do good with the xl-5 esc ? Im wanting to have a little speed and then be able to crawl . btw my motor is sluggish now it goes fast and then slow then fast again.

Comp rig (MOA or shaftie), scaler, fun run in backyard?
What battery size are you running (6 cell NiMH, 3S LiPO)?

Chances are a good cleaning of your motor, oil the bushings/bearings and new brushes are all that is needed.

BTW, what state do you live in? I know of a town like yours in NJ.

I am guessing he has a RTC AX10....if that is true, then there are plenty of excellent options. Personally, I'd go with a good 35T Handwound motor.....and Brood Racing can certainly suit your needs!

For a replacement motor, a Tamiya "silver can" 27t is good for $20. Nothing wrong with being young and having limited funds.
Like stated earlier, a good cleaning and oiling might bring the old motor back to life. For my cheap motors I just connect a "AA" battery to the motor and dip in in a cup of water for 15-20 seconds then oil the bushings/bearings.

An electric motor specific is best, but "3 in 1" or a light motor oil (like a 30wt) will work.
Something is ALWAYS better than nothing.

You could use water or a sprayable electrical cleaner to clean the motor. Use a pinion gear (attached) to spin the motor while cleaning it out.

yes, but you can garb a cheap soldering iron and solder from walmart for less than $10 (and you'll use it a lot in this hobby), as well as soldering is super simple to do! just pre heat and pre-tin your meal part on the motor, then pre-tin your wire/ plug then just melt them together and take off your iron and let it cool! takes longer for the iron to heat up than anything else!
