Heck my bec is set for 8.4v on a 7950 and I run it through my futaba rx works just fine.
what would be the advantage of over volting on the servo. Im scared to volt it up to that. How do you know what you can get away with with out any problems. my JR is rated for 6v so i set it at 6.2 didnt know how high I could get away with reason I say not to run straight through the rx because if your using a dig servo you dont want to run the servo over 6v as most of them are not rated any higher. the dig servos are cheapies

More voltage = more torque, more speed

Of course there is a risk with pushing any electronic past it's rated specs. Some servos seem to handle it fine, some don't. I've known a lot of people to run the 7955 Hitecs at 7.4V no problem. But again, it's a risk, if you fry something warranty might be out of the question.

I know Spektrum RX's are rated to about 9V so you can run an HV servo through the RX no problem. Others usually say 6V, but may work higher, it's just that risk again of pushing past rated specs. Higher voltage means more current flowing through the RX.

I run a BEC in every truck/car that I own. It is cheap insurance against burning up the ESC internal BEC, and it also gives the optimal performance to the steering servo.

On a stock AX-10 RTC that gets used maybe twice a year (and not even for comps), with a stock steering servo, I can't justify an external BEC. If I had a high end servo that I knew the ESC couldn't feed, I think I'd probably run a 2S LiFe receiver pack. I could see the point for those of you who actually use your rigs, but I'm just not there yet.

Casual comp,as we tryed to orginise comps a couple of years ago,and nobody would turn up. SO theres a few of us that get together every month or so for some comp,or scale time.

My casual comp is a rockforce,on 3s with a CC BEC,and my scallers mostly run Novak roosther CE.

Can't vote atm cos I'm on my mobile but I use a bec in my scx10 basher since I use 3s with an FXR so i have to, just a cheap $5 hobbyking one but it does the trick.

Also use a CC bec in my soon to comp xr10 but hoping to get rid of it and try out a turnigy hv servo that can run on 12v straight from the 3s lipo.

I run them in all my rigs. I also run castle stuff and there internal BEC's sucka$$. I even have to run a bec in my slash that has a sidewinder. If I don't, on 3s the internal bec will over heat on the second battery :-(

Hell I run two CCBEC's in each of my rigs. One for the steering and one for the winch. I know, it's over kill, but.....
