Maybe you can squeeze a little life out of that com by cleaning it with an pencil eraser.

but! i just looked at the wires to the brushes, and noticed that the spring to push in the brushes were getting blocked, since there is a little gap that ends too far away from the brushes, and allow full use of the brush, so i just pulled the spring back, and make it straight, rather than having a hook at the end. This pushed my brushes into the com, and now it runs just fine! !!!!!

WOOHHOOOO its still running with a really beat up com

time will only tell.
Get new brushes. The reason for the "notch" in the brush hood is to make sure you have enough brush length for good power transfer (power flows mostly through the side of the brush/hood contact area, NOT the brush lead) and NOT cocking the brush.
You have just bypassed a safeguard in the motor.
You can likely get a skim cut on the comm., but you may never get it back to perfect due to the burning that went on. By the time it's perfect, the copper segments may be all gone.
The picture explains your earlier issues though.

ohh.... Great, thanks. that makes sense why there is the notch.

ouch, hmm, i think i may just use the eraser trick time to time.. worked well for me, so i can keep the motor salvaged, untill it really has no comm
