How would you wire the "burp button" if the flap switch looks like this:
ImageShack® - Online Photo and Video Hosting

The wires aren't the same as in the picture posted by Dpdsurf. The switch kinda looks different.

Can you post a much larger and closer picture than that one.

it's very hard to see any details.

What radio is it?

Is the Flap switch currently operating as your DIG switch?

The Burp button is just a momentary push button switch that operates just like if you flippled the flap switch ON.

Get a better picture and we should be able to help you out.

Cheers,
Mike.

Thanks for the response, Mike.
Now I feel compelled to ask you what is "flippled"? But I expect it was just a typo

The radio is a Futaba 6ex and the flap switch is going to be the channel I use for my front dig.

Hey CK,

The pics are still a bit small and fuzzy.

Really need some large size (1024x800 or bigger) pics of the switch, but then also of where all the wires terminate on the main circuit board.

Your wiring is definately different to previous 6EX I've had apart.

But, if you've got a switch you can wire in a button...

You might need to get a multimeter and test which wires are the signal ones when you close the switch...then wire those to the button.

First step would really be to sort out your DIG using the flap switch and confirm you've got it all working correctly.

Once that is done, then you can use the multimeter to determine which of those three wires you connect up to the button to achieve the same function.

Cheers,
Mike.

The wires terminate behind the main board by the screen. I dont really want mess with it too much and mess it up. There are 3 wires by the switch that almost looks like the end of a servo plug but the pins on the end of it goes threw the board and is soldered on the other side. There is one white wire on the left and two blue to the right.

the three solder points one the right are where the pins come threw the board.

My guess would be that the white wire might be a ground but two positives?

Fuzzy pics! But I think I know what you are after.

I think you want to install a push button so that you can have an easy way to activate that channel.

There are three wires that go to the existing switch. What the new push button will do is make a short between two of the connections on that switch. You can simulate this very easily and it will help you understand where you will be soldering the wires.

Plug a servo into that channel on your receiver and make sure you are able to operate it with the existing toggle switch on the transmitter. Now using a screw driver or a small length of wire, touch it to the center terminal of the toggle switch and to one or the other of the outer connections. The servo should move. If it doesn't move, flip the toggle switch the other way and try again. These two points are where you will solder your push button switch.

Clear as mud?

Yes, you solder to the solder side of the board, not the component side.

Were you connecting the center pin to one of the outer pins? If it shut down the transmitter, oops! Flip the toggle the other way and try again, but if you have a volt meter, we can do this a little more safely. Do you have a volt meter?

ya I tried both pins and flipped the switch. The only volt meter I have, the lowest volt reading is 120 for house outlets. What would it read for volts, is it 11.1?

You would probably want a 20 volt range to cover you. I suspect your transmitter runs from 8AA cells so that would be 12V

Get yourself a volt meter. Connect the negative probe to negative of the battery (a probably black wire running from the transmitter battery). Put the positive probe on the three terminals of the switch. Flip the switch. I suspect that the two outer terminals will read 0 and 5 and the center terminal will flip between 0 and 5 when you throw the switch.

Really though, I think you should consider getting someone with some electronics experience to look at it for you because this could be just a little over your head. I'm not saying that you won't be able to do it, I think you really can, but I don't want to be the one that pushes you to risk breaking your stuff. I don't have the time at the moment to help you through each step. If you are serious about doing this, I will still help, but let's do it through PMs and I will help you whenever I have some free time.

Cheers,
Al

It also depends on if it will measure DC volts.

AC volts is what you get out of a wall outlet in your house (usually ~110 volts AC in north America, ~220 volts across most of the rest of the world.)

DC volts is from a battery or a power supply that puts out DC volts.

Your meter may not give a valid value for DC volts.

Almost ALL DVM's (digital volt meters) can read either DC or AC volts. It depends on the range you select.
