Sounds like the ESC is not set to "instant reverse".....

I have looked at all the set up sheets and don't see any other set up for worm gears ... The lights on the esc are solid red in neutral solid green at full throttle like they should be but when I go right to reverse there is a flashing green light but going from reverse to forward there is no delay and no flashing green light

Novak can be such a PITA to find manuals....... I found this page..... Goat 3S Crawler Brushless/Brush ESC that has a link to a manual.
I agree, I do not see anything relating to a reverse.
A lot of other ESC's allow you to set:
-No reverse
-Double tap reverse
-Instant reverse

I see no reference to these in your ESC. Maybe someone will chime in.

What radio are you running?

I've got the same setup.
my understanding of the system is that the instant reverse will only work with novak crawler specific motors and the only way the esc knows it is hooked up to a crawler motor is the sensor cable.
Make sure the cable is intact and fully seated at both ends. maybe try a different sensor cable.

If it is a 18.5 Ballistic motor than you need one of these Novak Electronics - Ballistic Crawler Timing/Sensor Assembly?

The Novak crawler motors have a built-in resistor that is connected to the blue wire on the sensor cable. The resistor is how the ESC knows the motor is a crawler motor. Your resistor is blown. If you dont have the Ballistic motor you can solder a resistor into the blue wire or send the motor back to Novak if its under warranty and they will send you a used/rebuilt motor. There warranty will not give you a new motor even if you bought it new and took it right out of the box.

That has nothing to do with the double tap reverse/reverse delay.

Could someone add the resistor to any sensores motor an "fool" the goat esc into operating as a Crawler motor? I have a goat 3s and tekin 13.5 I want to use in my scx10 and would love to get the drag brake back.

Yes. Should be able to.

Dont think so. Never heard of anyone having a delay going from reverse to forward unless you have the channel setting reversed on your radio or motor wired backwards.

OK. Anyone out there mod a motor to work with a goat esc? I'd like to know if it worked and what size resistor they used.

I just reversed the motor rotation so now the delay is going reverse to forward witch is better than forward to reverse for now until I change that resister

When you change the resistor would you mind taking a couple pics along the way? Would like to see how it compares to my tekin.

Did anybody ever figure this issue out or solder in the resistor to fix it? I have a LNC with a goat 3s running a 21.5t losi xcelorin and have the same issue. It makes crawling and climbing difficult/obnoxious when you can't quickly grab reverse. I get the same blinking green LED when I try to quickly reverse from forward.
