what's wrong with my motor?

turned scx10 on properly and immediately rooster esc went into thermal shut protection and battery (6cell nimh) burnt out, I disconnected battery and the truck is stiff as hell on its drive train where its normally nice and smooth. any help at all? I think its a motor issue but I'm clueless... motor isn't turning at all.

Loosen the motor mount screws and slide it away from the spur. Turn the wheels by hand and see if there is still binding.

If the binding is not present, then you have a problem with the motor. It might be anything from simply needing a rebuild to something lodged in the motor itself.

You didn't even touch the throttle before this happened?
- That would be a short circuit in the ESC, on the "input" side.
- It should not affect the drive train!

If you did try to make the car run before it got hot, then I'd guess it's a short in the motor, possibly (at worst) welding the motor axle down.

right so i tried touching the moor to the turned off esc to find the motor spin at high speed, i have a short in my esc, when i turn it on, it smells. if this happens with you, buy a new esc.
