How is the cooling though? I smoked my SS+ a while back due to over heating just playing around on flat ground, with the proper gearing and all the air flow it could want.

I'd have to go back through my old e-mails, but I never saw any really alarming temps except when it was massively overgeared, and that was the first-gen prototype anyway.

Mircogoat, how are you getting all these brushless motors to test? You also tested the mamba max if I remeber correctly from another thread. Thats just unfair |

Well, I did figure out how to make brushless work in a crawler. Besides, I work retail. I eat more sh!t in one day than most of you will your whole lives. I'm owed. |

True Dat, I can barely stand to be in the hobby shop for more than a few minutes, I can't imagine being the one to answer questions or even just being in there all day.

I will buy one. I have had nothing but great luck with all things Novak. Hell, I even ran my 5800 in my TXT crawler for 6 months. Never had a problem |

$350.00 bucks! I'll take 2 Mamba 25's and 2 Revolvers and then buy a new set of tires. |

what we need is light & short motor, not a huge & none-waterproof ESC combo...lol it would not fit for clud axle with 8T pinion gear reduction unit. too wide and the motor will hit lower links. (would u spend $500 and carry 2 esc for any comp or water?) but single motord mad bashing truck might work well (but I dont buy, too heavy, expencive, and wide!! my B4 trans tlt have no space to set this up and change pinions Last edited by H I R O; 07-07-2006 at 05:47 AM. |

According to the Motor specs on the site it says the motor length is only 52.8mm which is the same size as the Lathes. I own at least one of all the Novak systems and I've been extremely happy with them all. Even if you gear it wrong, the thermal shutdown should kick in before any damage occurs. As far as water-proofing, I guess you're out of luck on that one. And the issues that John stated about winding has me thinking as well. Guess we'll find out when I buy one!

Be sure you build a strong rig for it. The Free Crawlin' Kyosho Nitro Crusher's drivetrain wasn't up to it. The Novak ate one tire bead, one JB'd diff, and one steel dogbone. It's got punch. The one thing I didn't like about it: Programming is done by four LED's: a red, amber, green, and blue. I'm red-green color-blind, so I saw three yellowey LED's and one blue one. It was a little hard to figure out what was going on there. At least the manual tells you which is which. One thing I did like about it: Because it's sensored, the Novak system is smooth as silk. No cogging, ever. |

Oh that's right about no cogging didn't think about that too. So if you're sitting on a steep grade wouldn't it roll back unless you program a bit of throttle trim?

That depends on how much drag brake you dial in. The system I tested had nine incrememts of drag brake, from freewheel to brick wall. Even brick wall wouldn't hold the rig on an incline without some throttle input, but an outrunner setup won't do that either. Having an adjustable DB is a very nice feature to have, and indispensable for downhill sections.

My production Crawler system showed up yesterday Now the question is, do I jack it back into the bootyfabtabulous test rig, or build something decent for it to ride in? And when are we going to get a Mr. Orange smiley for these Novak threads? |

Put it into a scale rig. Build something new for it.

Put it in a big heavy shafty (well guess it would have to be a shafty unless you bought two) and tell me how it does!!!
