Easiest method is to connect the red wire. Most esc you can just connect power and it will work.

To program the CC External BEC? You shouldn't have any wires disconnected on the BEC....just plug it in and it should work fine.

Ummm when I programmed my CC BEC I just connected it via USB and it powered the circuit for programming. No need to connect to a battery. Maybe I didn't understand your question but programming this and the ESC requires no actual battery power. Just USB power works.

After the BEC and ESC are wired together is common to have to use a battery to power up for programming. Also if the red wire is pulled from the ESC a battery will allow for programming.

Ok, heres a dummy question that is on topic..

I got one of those castle field cards a while back and never played with it. It came with a usb cord. I was under the impession that the field card and the castle link were two different things. What is the usb cord that came with my field card capable of?

I haven't had time to play with it because my FXR has been doing so well but, I have a couple BRXL's on the way and those are castle link compatible, right?

The USB cable lets you use the field card as a normal castlelink on your computer. Yes the BR-XL is castlelink compatible, not sure if the field card is or not though.
