| Castle BEC issue
I recently installed a brand new Castle BEC in my AX10. After installing the BEC and prettying up all the wiring I drove around my basement and crawled on my scrap wood pile for a while and everything worked perfectly. The next day I worked on the crawler some more (nothing electrical) and took it for another test drive. All went well for a while, but the crawler soon started stuttering when at full throttle with one (or both) set(s) of wheels turned full lock. I unplugged the BEC and plugged the power wire from the ESC back into its receiver plug, and everything worked fine again. The stuttering is as if the whole truck loses power for an instant, then regains it. It's only at full throttle with the wheels turned. The BEC battery wires are soldered onto a Deans plug with the ESC power wires to connect to the battery. I removed the signal wire from the BEC receiver plug and it's plugged into a spare channel on the receiver. I also removed the power wire from the ESC receiver plug. Castle BEC, Rooster Crawler ESC, Traxxas 27MHz receiver, Integy 35T motor, cheap ebay Chinese metal gear servos front and rear. Is my BEC fried? Is something else wrong? |

From your description, it sounds like you ran the CC BEC direct to the RX?? That's OK, just asking. The "signal wire" from the BEC is dead, don't worry about it. Did you change the BEC output voltage? Does your CC BEC have a ~1/2" long ~3/8" diameter black "can" sticking out from under the shrink wrap? Is "yes" this is a new version & should be OK, if not CC had what appears to be a bad batch from last summer (we've lost 3 from "that batch"). Power it all up, check the BEC output voltage. Are your TX batteries good? Is your RX antenna away from the BEC & ESC/motor wires?? Older AM?FM radios are very susceptible to noise from ESC's, BEC's & motors (that don't have caps). |

Yes, the BEC is wired directly to the receiver. My plan was to try that first, and if that didn't solve my servo power issues, to wire it directly to the servos with y-connectors later. The BEC is brand new, but has been sitting on my work bench for a while. I didn't change any settings; don't even have the USB link. Nothing sticking out from under the shrink wrap on the BEC. BEC is outputting 5.0 V. The ESC outputs 5.9 V on the receiver plug. Transmitter batteries are new. Receiver antenna is near all the other wiring, but isn't bundled together with them or anything like that. I've had all the wiring in the same place since I built the current iteration of this crawler, and haven't had problems before. |

Unplug your servos and see if the throttle works

If your running only 5v through the bec it may not be enough for 2 servos and the rx. Check your rx specs and bump the bec up to 6v at least. If you don't have the castle link find a buddy with one or the lhs might have one to use.
