Default testing a waterprrof box with electrics in it

im using a servo box to put all my electrics in, once i seal it up,can i submerge it with NO POWER hooked up to make sure its sealed completely. and my electrics live if it does have a leak?

im gonna seal it up with shoe goo, i don't want the house to smell like silicone for a week

you can, but you shouldn't... use extension wires to go through the box so that #1, you can test it without electronics in it, and #2, you can easily change components when necessary.

thought about that, but then id have to cut it open and mount the electronics, then seal it up again. which would put me in the same boat. i painted everything with liquid tape also, so should be ok if i end up with a leak

maybe mount the electronics to the top so if there is a leak it wont get to them as easily..

just buy a waterproof box to begin with, they're like $8 for 2 on ebay

2pcs New Waterproof Plastic Project Box Electronic Case DIY 83 x 58 x 34mm | eBay

that's what i bought, although i have not received it yet, but it should be an OK size based on my guesstimates.

Can you let us know if they are any good once you receive them?

I will do that... there are some that are a bit bigger too, but my ESC is waterproof so i only need to put my RC and BEC in here

i just did some quick measuring on my hitec servo box, and it's 93x78x34... so depth is the same, the ebay box is 1cm (~3/8") shorter on length and width... just to give you a bit of an idea, should easily fit a receiver and small esc like an fxr, as well as a bec.
