Default Great video about taking apart motors

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BjCLSOESnaM
This is a movie i found while trying to figure out how to take apart my motor. I have never taken apart a motor so it was a little tough for me to find out how. This movie i think is good and might help you guys out. I thought i would pass on the knowledge. Enjoy also I heard it was bad to use sandpaper on the comm so skip that part!

What's wrong with it other than the sandpaper part?

Without having to go watch it again...

He puts OIL on the comm after his sandpaper job...he doesn't reseat the brushes....not mention he touches the comm with his fingers after his sandpaper job. If memory serves correct, he also is a retard and takes the timing rings off.......you LOOSEN the screws and rotate, the ring comes out with the endbell. No need to lose screws and such.

Pretty much everything!

There is basically two brushed motor builders(companies) left in the world that build and sell handwounds. Comp crawlers is also basically the last breed of rc to use quality handwound brushed motors. We happen to have those two builders here on rcc. They are tied in with the best suppliers, parts, resources, experience past and present the rc world has ever known.
Eddie @Team Br00d in the racing days rolled with the KINGS of motor designers and builders. Eddie at one time probably built more motors in a month than rcnightmare will ever do.......
John Rob Holmes has the intelligence and is becoming more connected with some of these kings I spoke of. He is designing and building his own shit now too....

Point is, why travel to youtube to see some hack that recommends sandpaper to true a commutator when the best experience is right here.

What do you mean by reseating the brushes? Also there isn't really a lot of other videos about this and only having pics and such is not really the easiest way to do something (I am a very visual person) but thanks for the heads up guys!

Probably for two reasons. One is there is just not many other forms of RC fooling with brushed stuff anymore so no use in making a video. Two it would take a good deal of effort and time to produce a video of the proper way to rebuild/service a motor. Hell most people don't have the proper tools to to service one correctly anymore. A lot more to it than just a comm cut and a new set of brushes.

Maybe this new era of sensored brushless stuff will pan out as planned. Life will be a bit easier then

When I read that there was sandpaper involved with a brushed motor I didn't bother clicking the link.
