| Why isnt my rear axle lockin up?
Hello fellow rc'ers! Have a conundrum i hope you can assist me with. I have a berg with twin novak "expert"(haha) 45s. Controlled by an M2 dig esc. Had a buddy calibrate everything for me. The drag-brake & dig come maxed out at 10 now. Checked to make sure anyway. Install & setup were a breeze. Problem is, when i activate the dig, the rear wheels still turn. Not freely. But, not at all locking, like i want. I heard that if these motors are old,or just inferior, they will do that. Have you run into this? Or anybody have experience dealing with this? Finally, what motor do you reccomend for a fix? I dont wanna drop 40 on a holmes if i needed to drop 60 on a better one. Or, vice-versa. Thanks for any advice. |

Weak motor = weak brakes. Buy the best motors you can afford. |

Until last week, I ran a M2 in a used XR-10.....same issue, "lack of drag brake". Swapped in 2 CC Sidewinder Micro Pro's....great drag brake now with no other changes. While it may be your motors, I would vote the M2 ESC 1st. Just saying. As to the motors, if the brushes are really short, that can reduce the drag brake as well. |

I agree with charlie, even a cheap motor will lockup if the esc is doing it's job. I've probably got the crappiest motors on this site and they lockup solid with sidewinder micros. They worked just as good on my almost 7lb bully with og MM and punk dig. Those Novaks should be fine.

I know i could run dual esc's & solve it. But, not gonna ditch the new esc, buy a stick radio, & do that whole thing again. Been there. The stick radio bugged me anyway. Better motors it is.

Either way, I have an M2 in my spare rig with HH handwounds. I was able to get the drag brake to hold fine with it and get it to crawl smooth at low speed (after a lot of messing with the settings on the ESC and radio) Last edited by new2it; 05-11-2012 at 03:59 AM. | |

Stick some 15oz brush springs in the Novaks. The stock Novak springs are as weak as something very weak on a weak day.
