Default motor up in smoke HELP

I just hooked up a brxl and brood 25t intensity on 3s. Break in as what the site advised and went for a backyard run. After about 5 min or so i stopped and smoke starts bellowing out from the bottom! First rush and unplug the lipo and grab tools and take the skid apart from the rest of the chassis. Well Ill put it this way, it got so hot the soldered leads from the motor came off! I dont know if anyone else has had this problem and what the cause may be but any help would be appreciated. On another note the lipo was on the warm side also but the esc seemed fine.

Are you sure the lead didn't come loose first and short out on the other lead?

Your gearing maybe too high...what are you running it in and how is it geared? A 25t brushed on 3s is already pushing it if you run hard...I run a Holmes 21t on 3s in my Wraith and the motor gets up to almost 120 degrees with crawling and some speed bursts after a full 1550mah pack.

Also the weight of your rig plays a role too. Even down to the wheels if they're weighted. There is no set gearing/weight for a rig and completely dependent on your driving style. Just play around with gearing and if you haven't run a pack with a new motor pay close attention to temps. Sorry to hear about the motor!

I've used this with pretty good success. Haven't found any specifically made for rc's yet...

All electronics are filled with smoke. They need it to function. Once the smoke comes out, it is impossible to get it all back in. Therefore the function will never be back up to spec. - Old army engineer (never got his name)

Wiring harness smoke is definitely not the same as electric motor smoke, so don't order that one.

Im using the stock trans spur and 20t pinion. Ill try to go down but im not sure if motor is still good or not. None of the wires were exposed or crossed so the other question i have is runnin at full speed runnin around the back yard over some jumps i made after a couple crawl min could of done it. As for weight i have 2 oz per on the front w axial 2.2 rocksters and proline tsl swampers rear is un weighted.

87/16 is a great start. The stock gearing will destroy any motor on 3s if you wheel it hard enough.
