| Lipo battery charge question
I have a 5400 MaH 7.4V lipo I balanced charged last night. Is it normal for my charger to charge and complete at 5000 MaH? Is that considered fully charged? I always use a balance lead when charging. Sorry for the new question. |

What charger do you have? Mine comes from the factory with a set 5000mah limit. I reprogramed mine to charge higher for my 6000mah lipos for my traxxas.

| Re: Lipo battery charge question It's considered fully charged when it gets just about to 4.2 volts per cell, or in your case, somewhere around 8.3-8.4 total volts. (it likely won't be exact, don't sweat getting it right on) The reason your charger stopped at 5000 mAh, could be it's programmed to only put that much in, or could be that's all you used. For best LiPo life, you really should try not to use up any more than 80% of your rated capacity. For your 5400 battery you should be putting back in 4320mah or less. If you're going higher than that on charge, you might want to not run quite so long next time. |

Yeah, I wouldn't worry about what it shows as mAh it's putting back into the pack. I go by the final voltage as the other guys do. You will probably want to increase the max mAh and time though. My charger is the 610 and was set to 5000mAh and 120 minutes max. I would say it's safe to discharge the cells to 3.4/v cell without any adverse affects.

I have the 606D charger. Just checked and the capacity cutoff is set to 5000mAh. Is it safe to set to 5400 mAh?

I would think you'd be fine, the charger should still peak at around 8.4 volts (in a 2S program).

Just charge it to 5Ah and then press start again when it stops. Add 5Ah to whatever the next charge adds to the battery. You should not be going to lipo cut off ever. You should not ever drain your batteries. Lipo cells are not made for full Amperage drain. They are built with high Amperage times to give maximum Amperage draw |
