Default Motor Repair

Hi all,

I have a Holmes Hobby 22T motor that the negative wire tab has snapped off of:

I was wondering what my options might be for repair the motor? Can I just solder on to the end bell or do I need to get an complete replacement end bell? Can I solder onto the same side as the brushes?

Sorry if these are noob questions but I don't know a whole lot about motors so any advice is much appreciated!

Thanks!

You can solder the wire to any place on that side, it will conduct to the brush. Or you can just solder to the remaining tab opposite the one that broke off. Your choice.

You could solder the wire back on the other side over by where the brush wire is attached,
you could go to Radio Shack (or similar) and pick up some small eyelets, solder the wire to the eyelet, and put the other end of the eyelet under the screw right near the red box in your pic,
you could send it back in to Brood or Holmes for a rebuild, and include a note to get that hood replaced,
Or, if you just don't care how it looks, you can just stick that wire anywhere on that negative brush hood.

If it were mine, I'd send it in for a rebuild,

How do I go about sending it in for a rebuild? Can I do it via the website?

Here is the link.
Holmes Hobbies / Holmes Bikes :: Service and Labor :: Brushed Motor Rebuild

If the tab is the only issue and the motor doesn't have a lot of run time on it I would just solder it to the other tab.

+1. Just solder the wire anywhere on the left side of the picture, it's all the same electrically.
