Default Re: Trouble with Axial NVS....

Interesting comments, Alexandru, about DSMR. I just found this thread after sending an e-mail to Axial support this morning. Here are my issues with NVS after installation on a Deadbolt with custom headlights and tail lights installed:

Headlights (White 5mm x2) in Head Light connector
Tailights (Red 5mm x2) in Brake Light connector
Auxiliary Axial Light Bar (White 5mm x2) in AUX connector

I did not use the turn signals nor do I care about brake lights necessarily.

The taillights flicker going forward as do the headlights and light bar but not as much as the taillights. They do not flicker in reverse.

It the head lights and tail lights are plugged into the upper Auxilliary light connectors, they do not flicker forward or reverse. I can live with that. The light bar shows very slight flicker, and I could live with that but would prefer not to.

The unit is connected as per instructions. I am using 2s battery, Spektrum SR410 receiver, original ESC and steering servo, no BEC, and Spektrum DX4S radio.

I will report back what Axial replies.

Everything is wired just as it is suppose to be im using a castle esc and futaba steering servo with at spectrum DX3S radio with a 2s Lipo. When i turn the NVS all the LEDs flash once really quick then all it does is the turn signals all flash like 4 way hazards. The only other thing I can get it to do is if i hold the aux button as i turn the NVS on the lights all come on but turn signals still flash all 4. Then once you turn the system off again it goes right back to just the turn signals flashing. I have already had the NVS brain itself replaced once and the new one did the exact same thing.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
I'm having the same problem as well. STILL looking for a fix for this, not a bandaid. I have everything wired per instructions, running spectrum DX3S, CC 10amp BEC. Lights flash and then go out/blinkers run in "hazard mode". I DO have a Savox SW-0231MG waterproof servo however. Connection between Futaba and Savox as they both have a 25t spline? Please! Please! Please! Would love the fix.

Update... well, I traced it back to the Savox servo. I plugged in an older one, and it seems to work now. Sill not sure if it's a voltage problem or just the mfg. If anybody has the answer, please let me know. TY

THANK YOU FOR THE CLUE!

I am also running a new DX4 on my G6 with NVS and was having the annoying "left turn signal" all the time and "pulsing" lights.

Here is how I solved the blinker issue:

1. I simply connected the NVS Steering Input to Aux1.
2. Connected the steering servo back to the steering channel of the Rx.
3. Went into the DX4 menu and selected "Steer Mix".
4. Then selected the type to be "Dual AX1", left trim ACT for now and Rate at 100% each direction.

Now when I turn the wheel, the mix uses Aux1 as well and the blinkers work as they should. So there is something funny about the steering channel on the Rx. Why it doesn't simply output a clean 1500us on center and 1000us to 2000us for min and max is beyond me.

I'll pull out the scope meter and have a look at it one of these nights.

---

To temporarily solve the pulsing headlight issue, I connected them to an Aux channel until I can chase that down.

Cheers
Tim

From the mixer menu assign a button, let's say A which is 3 position button and switch from there the mods of steering. Also connect the STR lead from NVS to AUX1 and NOT ON STR. All car is front to rear switched. In this way LEDs will all be stable at any framerates!! Problem arrived from the signal of the STR channel on DSMR protocol. AUX1 and AUX2 are somehow "classic" channels. Also must reverse both servos to control left to be left and right to be right.

So it's a matter of taste. I prefer myself to drive it with both steering servos active, so will not be a big deal. Also must remember always that rear is front and front is read on switch A, when blocking one axle or the other for straight drive. I'm pretty happy with this solution. If you don't have 2 steering systems forget about it, you are stuck in the same situation.

Hope that will help many on feature!
