| Did I do something wrong??
So before everyone has a rant saying "it's Integy" rah rah rah....let me first say...yeah I shouldnt have bought it and should have trusted my instinct. Anyways.... yesterday I picked up my XR10 fitted with an M2 and 2 55t lathe motors, turned the radio on, plugged the battery in....gave a little throttle while the car was in the air in my hand and POP! I instantly thought a gear had let go seeing they are stock trans gears. After removing the motor the axles were spinning, fine I noticed the motor had locked up.... this is what I found and how it can out the can... (disregard the brass wire on the bench...its from a wire brush) I'm only running stock gearing, with a 2s lipo and minimal weights in the front wheels...I'm not comping this truck and have probably done about 15packs through it... Can someone tell me if I have done something wrong or did I just confirm Integy's quality? I plan on taking back to my LHS if it seems faulty. Thanks! I would say you confirmed Integy's quality. That motor looks like it was wound like that and their lack of quality control missed it. You can tell by how the wire is flattened that it ran for a little bit.

Yup, just a crummy motor. Typically they are fairly decent units, and really the only thing I would buy with their name on it.

yeah from what I have heard most people like the motors....but i am no fan of their other products. the motor seemed to run fine prior to this....but never really felt the same as the front motor. |

Good example of "throwing a wind". Most likely from a loosely wound arm. Just the odds was against you on being the one that got that particular motor. That is why higher end motors are epoxy dipped and baked. To keep err thing in place. |

What were the brushes like? That might help to understand what happened. How old are the motors? I'm running a couple of Integy motors but I have done a lot of tweaking to them straight out of the box and they have been good, strong motors. New bearings, balanced, cut the comm's, re-aligned the hoods and put decent brushes in the motors. |

I've only had them since August this year and done about 15ish packs through them. Brushes were good, guy at the LHS said it wasn't right. The front axle motor is fine, in fact I'm actually quite happy with these motors... Given that they are my first really high turn crawler motors and the price I paid I really can't complain! Just thought I would have them a tad longer. It's getting sent to Integy now, so I guess we will see If its not under warranty... What brand motors should I be looking at. I'm quite new to crawling, and I have 2 FXRs coming to power them... I've been looking at HH and Brood motors but I really didn't want to spend a great deal on motors given that I don't comp. Any recommendations? |

Brood machine wound are 32.99. have 3 35t and love them. If and when I have some money, I can get a hand wound armature and install it. The cans have great magnets and are very buttery smooth.

I would say you did nothing wrong, how much run time on that though? that com looks terrible, never mind the crap winding.

Integy motors are actually pretty good. I know a guy who runs them religiously.....He wins comps too! So, may have been just the motors time to go.... I have an xtra 55T if you need it. PM and I can ship from my shop. |

I say luck of the draw I got two Integy motors on trade and rebuilt them ( turn comm,P94 hoods,P94 brushs, clean lube bearings) Been beating on the 55T for 7 monthsThe 35t for 3 months all ok I would recomend HH or Brood if you can't build a motor yourself also all on 3S!

Yeah the comm was about to be cleaned before I took the photos. Comm and brushes are fine.
