Default Motor question

I have a Traxxas 550 12t motor that needs new brushes.

This morning I saw a motor can, and I put 2 and 2 together.

Is it possible to put a motor "core" and put it into a rebuildable motor can?

Thanks

Yes, it is possible to take the armature ("core") and put it inside a rebuildable can. But in your situation it will not work, the traxxas motor is a 550 size and almost all rebuildable motors are a 540 size, so it is too big. Also the traxxas armature has fans on it to help cool it down, and those will not fit in a 540 can.

Couldn't I pull the fan off, shorten the shaft, and drill the magnets to be wider on the can?

Not sure what you mean by drill the magnets, but because the 12t is a 550 it may have a longer armature. You could always take it apart to find out, no harm if it is already broke.

12t to 27t:

2+2=

It looks like it is a little too long I didn't realize the armatures in the 12t traxxas motors are that long.

I didn't either...

We will see.

Maybe i could run longer screws, with spacers, and maybe some lexan with vents around that or something.

You still need something to securely hold the bushing at the top. Maybe it is time for a new motor They don't last forever, if they did jrh and brood would be out of business

You won't have the correct magnet coverage. What you are trying will not work....
