| Brushless motor /esc questions
2 things...one, I switched my RTR brushed wraith to a brushless velineon motor and esc recently and its acting different in a bad way. With the brushed motor when I let off the throttle, it would automatically brake. with this new motor, even with the throttle trim adjusted it just rolls. Two, when crawling and only trying to use small amounts of throttle, it studders as though gears are slipping but im sure that there are no gears loose or slipping. it does not do this studdering at high speeds and high throttle. Is this a motor issue? esc?

The VXL system is about the worst choice you could make if you wanted to go slow and crawl stuff. There is no drag brake, and that stuttering you are seeing is pretty normal for that system. It just does not like minimal throttle. |

The stuttering is called cogging! The vxl system is a non sensored system so there is no sensor in the motor to tell it were it is supposed to be! The best thing you can do is sell the kit and by an esc such as a mamba max pro and a sensored brushless motor and you will be able to crawl good. You will also have plenty of brake and drag brake!

Yep I highly agree. I put a castle 4 pole system in my wraith for about 6 minutes. That is all it took to determine an unsensored motor will not go slow and going too fast was going to destroy my wraith

I ran mine for a while with the stock speed controller and a 21 turn traxxas Titan motor. Using 3s it was a lot of fun, and those motors are about 20 bucks.
