Default driller motors?

guys i was searching on you tube and came across a couple of vids of rigs hooked up with drill motors!! can any one shed some light on this?

can they be used with a normal esc? and how is battery life?

ps i have a drill here and it says 14v on the battery pack.... so it cant work with a 7.4v lipo right?

has been used for the bigger rigs for years. The story was to get a cheap drill from the hardware store and use the motor (which in most cases is close to a 540 can) and most important the heavy duty planetary gearbox. There were even specific part numbers to just get the gearboxes, especially the ones with two speeds
They will surely run on 2 or 3s Lipo.
Here is a drawing, locate the gearbox and marvel about the price
service

Do some calculation on how fast it will spin at the output shaft and build your transfer case/secondary gearbox accordingly, power is pretty good.
To give some impression about the setup here is a picture (not mine)
