| Castle creations?
I have a scx10 honcho. Was given to me by a friend. Has no motor or esc. I have a castle creations 1/10 sv2 sidewinder sct 3800kv motor and esc combo. Could I use this in my honcho? What pinion would be good for this. Any advice would be great. Thanks

You can use it, but it's gonna be fast as hell!

the ESC would be great, basically the same thing as the axial AE-2 but does brushless as well. that 3800 is more suited for something like a SCT truck or stadium truck. itll be fast and very powerful. probably too much motor for a stock drive train. it may cog at low speed as stanmondez said. |

You need to be looking about 12t and 86t spur and as for cog it's the behaviour of your brushless motor at low speeds it will shutter and jump and basically be absolute rubbish for crawling at low speeds, all you're going to do is blow gearboxes and diffs. Esc is fine, go get yourself a castle link make it brushless tape off the white wire and buy yourself a 35t or around there.

2-I believe you mean to change it to "brushed" not brushless. | |

As Charlie said, programming can be done with the radio and the programming instructions. Not the easiest, but it's free. For motor, you won't like the 3800 one bit in that truck. I had the 3800 in a Stampede 4x4 and hated it so much I sold the truck and kept the motor and esc. With a different ESC the motor is a lot more tame, but with the Sidewinder it's not a very good match unless you are short course racing. For the truck, I'd find a nice brushed motor and program the ESC for that and you'll be very happy. |

So keep the esc, put maybe axials stock 27 turn brushed with a 20t pinion? Could I still run a 7.4 2 cell lipo ?

Yup! 2s should be fine. IMHO, keep that 3800 incase you get or have a 1/10 truck that needs a beast of a motor. I love castle motors for their brute power. |
