| Battery Balance Question
I'm curious and looking for an answer for a fellow forum member here. How do you balance charge a 2s lipo that has no balance plug? Case in point.... HYPERION G3 CX 25C |

A frikkin work day and less slightly over an hour....Dude, some of US have to work for a frikkin living so our kidlets can spend our money to buy RC stuff..... Some packs have a built in balance board, thus no external balance port. Just saying..... Sheesh. 1-Answered your question more than likely 2-Yes, I'm a parent with a RC crawler offspring Any comments back?? |

Actually....yes. I'm at work myself, but I find time to try to get answers for friends from the best source for RC crawling on the interwebz. And like you, I have crawler offspring, too. He's 3 and has a pretty nicely built Trekker. As for the battery info, I'm guessing to be the case here, but I'll double-check Hyperion's site. Didn't know those batteries existed. Thanks for teaching me something new. |

OK, so you're not a "kid". Good. We understand each other (at least, for the most part). I'm on since I have a torn up shoulder (work related). Yes, some packs have a built in balance board. It can be good for some since the charger is cheaper, but I prefer to have an external balance port for a few reasons. Hopefully you didn't take my post negatively..... |

Nope not at all. Like you said...I'm not a "kid". I myself am like you, too. I feel better with an external balance port. But it isn't my battery and not going in my crawler, so I'm not that worried about it. I basically sit in a cubicle behind a computer all day writing reports, etc. for HazMat spills. Just not terribly busy the last couple days. |

I have charged a few packs like that and i believe it just goes off of overall voltage. It is probably an inexpensive pack that has a shorter battery life than most.

My Commanche (heli) uses 2S LiPos like that, the balance board is under the shrinkwrap. I don't use them much, but never had any problems with them. Found out the hard way that it also acts as a LVC. (Thankfully saving my battery.) (Yours may not, be careful if you're going to test for that.) | |
