Im gonna upgrade my servo on my wraith soon. Im running the stock AE2 ESC and nimh batteries. Im looking at a Hitech 7954SH servo which is 333 oz. @ 6v. My question is that im wondering if I need an external bec? My local hobby guys say I dont. They said I can just get a castle link and program it to 6volts. ??? Or whatever it is you do with them.....never had one. Some of the searchs ive read kinda point towards a bec. Any help would be awesome. Thanks!

Yes you do...tons of posts about this..all you can do to the stock esc with the castle link and software is chamge your drag brake, your lipo cutoff, and your max reverse speed..think that's it, I just had mine hooked up, you would think I'd remember...haha -sent from my smarter than me phone Last edited by mjc597; 04-20-2013 at 05:20 PM. |

1-I would get a 7950 vs. the 7954, I have killed a few 7954's, no real clue why. 2-Any servo over ~200inoz, needs an external 10A BEC. I wire it direct to the servo and a 7954 can easily take 7.2 volts input. I don't believe you can change the internal BEC voltage on any Castle/clone ESC, only the external ones. The Castle link can be used on the ESC & external BEC. |
