Tekin hd 35t sparking in reverse

I haven't noticed it until now, but my tekin 35t is sparking in reverse, is that normal cuz it doesn't seem like it should be doing that, also I have a pretty good amount of power loss it seems as well, it's not that old either maybe 4 months, only use it on the weekends, gear mesh is good no binding anywhere, and it does seem to run hot to. I only run 2s with a fxr. Any idea?

Brushes may be worn or starting to hang in the brush hoods.

You likely have some timing as well, so it's running retarded when in reverse.

Some arcing is OK, lots is not. Check for brush binding as well as brush length. Short brushes (brush spring is towards the bottom of the spring slot) also mean low brush tension.

Alright thanks, I have the timing advanced a little bit, I'm still new to brushed, I have always ran brushless, so opening up a brushed motor will be new for me

With positive timing it normal to spark in reverse.
