| Can a Servo stay still with no signal?
Hi all, I'm working on a project that needs a servo to stay still, while the receiver is not getting any signal (Tx shut off). Right now the servo freaks out until I turn on the Transmitter. Is there any way to make it work besides disconnecting power to the receiver? Thanks, Yorai |

When dealing with RC: TX on, RX on RX off, TX off The RX should not have power when the TX is off, you never quite know what will happen. |

yes... but you'll need a bec I installed the Castle BEC... my servo comes on immediately and centers when the battery is connected and the TX is off... it stays still as well. Maybe your servo isn't receiving enough power and that is causing the erratic behavior ? Is it a high torque servo or the stock thang ? But yeah... like others said previous... just a smart procedure to turn on the tx before connecting the battery... and not turn the tx off until the battery has been disconnected. If you don't have a BEC... I'd recommend getting one. Last edited by TacoCrawler; 09-02-2013 at 02:50 PM. |

Digital servos tend to "hunt" for center all the time, even if they have a valid RX signal. My original post still stands though. |

Thanks for all the replies! Actually the project is a remote controlled door lock, not so RC related. Well the servo is just a stock one ( better one on my truck (: ). I guess I'll stick to Turn on Tx method and that's it. |

Servo can't stay still with no signal. If you have a receiver with a fail safe feature then the rx will send a neutral signal to the rx when the tx is off.

| Re: Can a Servo stay still with no signal? Door lock for what? Do you need the servo to stay still in both positions or will it always be in the same one position when the tx is turned off.

Well an actual lock for the door. A real door. What I finished up with is just turning off power to the Rx and servo while Tx is closed. Or turn both on when I want control over the lock.
