Default NiMH battery questions ?

Hey guys I got this battery

I know I know I need to go lipo but for right now this is what I got to work with. It came with my wraith as a promo.

I received my charger yeaterday which is a limax b6-ac I'm new to NiMH and these kind of chargers. I selected NiMH function changed it to auto charge left the peak detection settings default changed the charge rate to 1c
I also set the cutoff setting to 3300 mah to not over charge the battery.

It wasn't on the charger but maybe 15 min. And it said it was fully charged.

I got a run time of about 5 minutes that doesn't seem right to me.

I know NiMH have a memory but I dont know much about how it works exactly

Trying to figure out if this is a issue with the charger or the battery do I need to do a trickle charge ?

If you drive really hard, 3000mah Ivan be gone through in 5 -10 minutes. You might try cycling the battery a few times. Nimh batteries do best once they've gotten a little exercise.

What ESC are you using? Maybe the Lipo cutoff is activated, so the ESC will "think" this is a 2s lipo and cut off at about 6.8v (3.4v per cell). What is the discharged voltage from battery?

Edit: you are using it on the RTR wraith? The AE-2 ESC may have built-in lipo cutoff activated by default.

NiMH does not have a "memory" like NiCD has.

As mentioned, most batteries work better after a few full charge/discharge cycles.

As to setting an upper limit for capacity (mah) during charge is not really needed in a decent charger which you have. Most chargers will go by "delta peak", or, "peak voltage" (both are the same thing, different term).

Was the pack warm when charged? NiMH/NiCD should be warmer than room temp when they are fully charged.

As mentioned, it may be an ESC setting.

Sounds to me like a common, run-of-the-mill false peak.

NiMhs/NiCads get warmer as they get fully charged. When your charger kicked out after only 15 minutes, was the pack warm at all?

When charging, I look for an even temperature in the pack overall. Usually if I find I'm having a hot spot in the pack, I'll assume that cell is on it's way out.
