Default BRXL Torquemaster Expert 35t issues

The problem: motor seems to shutter at low speed, also it would completely stall out, if I move it a little bit it will start going again and stay going until I stop.

Setup:
BRXL waterproof
Torquemaster 35t expert
Latest version Holmes Hobbies servo
BEC wired just to the servo
Scx10 with stock rtr gearing (OD UD gears) 1.9 swamper XL's
2s 5000mah batteries (never threw a 3s or bigger in it yet)

History: first time running the motor esc combo was at a comp, I was on a climb with the front tires over the lip and I was waiting for my teammate and I heard the dragbrake staying on and then I saw smoke coming from the motor so I unplugged the battery. Put another battery just incase and it seemed fine. I had no drag brake. Finished the comp (another hour or so). Afterwards I checked the esc on castle link. My Lipo shutoff was turned off?? And my drag brake was off?? So I reprogrammed it and threw in some new brushes and all seemed well for a while.

Then today (about a month later) went through a pack with no real issues. And on the 2nd pack it kept stalling out like stated in the first part of the post. Tried another pack same deal, even charged the one I ran 1st and same thing. Recalibrate do the ESC and nothing changed. I checked the temps before after a full pack running good and the hottest item was my motor at 94 degrees F. So idk what's going on. Not having real good luck with a Holmes system. I emailed them about my motor going up in smoke (2nd pack in) a month ago and had no reply. Trying to be patient with all this.

Any ideas? Not a electric rc expert but I'm no dummy and deal with electronics on a daily basis through my job.

did it alter the drag brake and LVC again ?
Maybe it's switched itself from brushed to brush-less mode ?

or possibly it's a simple a spring/brush hang up...
or maybe premature brush wear or brush failure ?

also check your motor's connections... and any solder joints
to be sure there is not an intermittent power/contact loss.

I checked the connections and solder joints. Didn't think about the brushes hanging up. I'll check those and check the programming again.

Hmmm.. Sounds like a hung brush.. Have you tried lightly snapping ur springs and running it again?

Odd ur settings changed..

What tx/rx are you running? (Just wondering)..

Who did you email at HH? Jonathan@holmeshobbies ??? He is pretty quick with the returns..

Feel free to call as well. It's not common we miss an email, service is top priority.

Is Holmes hold on? The change in settings tells me there may have been a bad CPU, that's a very rare occurrence.

The Holmes hold is on, had it set to 60%. I'll know more when I get near a computer with the castle link tomorrow. Thanks for the reply Jon, I'll check the settings and the brushes before contacting you again.

Hold and a hung brush wouldn't play well together at all. Turn off hold and set drag at 100 for starters.

The settings were all good, I turned the drag brake down after finding some of the posts on here. Positive it was a hung up brush. Runs good now after a pack through it.
