| Good budget radio
Being a current r/c model airplane pilot I quickly learned fast that it's easier/cheaper to have one good radio to control all my planes (12) rather than a bunch of rtr tx's. Since im getting into crawlers and a few boats, I would like to know of a good budget radio that I can run multiple models and be able to select which one I want to play with. Unlike my airplane radio, which I needed a more high tech advanced radio, I don't have to have all the bells and whistles, I just want something simple, at least 3ch, and be able to buy multiple receivers and run different models by simply selecting the model on the radio. I also have a rc boat that I would be using it with, again, nothing fancy just 2ch for that with regular trim settings. Any suggestions? |

Airtronics receivers are just a bit higher priced which drives up the price and for what he's doing no hack needed.

| Re: Good budget radio Same radio, uses 8 AA batteries, has a bushing in the wheel. The only other difference is the b has a dial to scroll and the c has a wheel. They function exactly the same. Receivers are $9, ax3 receivers work on them too so a lot of people already own a compatible and very small receiver.

Also the GT3C is alot lighter than the GT3B. Mostly because it uses a 1s Lipo instead of 8 AA's. I outline the differences between the two radios here Flysky GT3C |

Are they pretty simple to use? I see they hold a 10 model memory, which is plenty as right now I just have a crawler, a truck, and a boat. I just don't need a high tech radio since I'm not racing or anything. But this radio is definitely in my price range and loOKs to do everything I need it to do. Any cons on them? |

If you hack it there is a pretty steep learning curve but otherwise it's a rather simple radio to use. I'd highly recommend the c over the b. They are both solid but the c can be charged by a mini USB cable while you drive to the crawl spot or by any standard USB style outlet. The b eats batteries. So there ya have it, the b is heavier and eats up the batteries. That's the downside. |

Cons: It's a cheap radio with a cheap build quality with no warranty. But there's people who have been using their Flysky's for 5 year now. It's a great budget radio because it can be flashed with a new firmware when you need the extra functionality only found in high end radios. If you never intend on using more than two channels then there are better radios out there for the price. But if you start adding stuff to a scaler or want dual esc mixing, or ...... then these Flysky's are the way to go

Yea. But in the stock form the 3rd channel is close to useless.

What do u mean exactly? Only reason I might would use the 3rd channel is maybe to power my lights on my crawler. Any way I could use 3rd channel to turn lights on/off by the tx on the 3rd channel in Stock form?

The stock firmware only has a two postion 3rd channel button. So yes it can control lights with the correct light controller. |

Yes I use mine for a winch control. Technically you can make it work by playing with the trim and endpoint settings, but it's a huge pain, and winch line creep is I inevitable. HeyOk makes a great winch controller that allows you to use the 2 position 3rd channel. It's well worth the minor cost, and works flawlessly. Fyi. Recievers that I've found to work are : flysky, axial, redcat, and some hobbyking and turnigy. Be careful with the hobbyking ones though. Not all will work. The Redcat recievers are plentiful in my area. I can usually score one off of someone's RTR, for 5 bucks. Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk |

Redcat? That's good info! I happen to have a couple somewhere. Definitely going to try them. Thanks for this bit of info!
