| TX comp question for ya
Hey folks, need some knowledge from you cats that know. I'd love to start comping my beefed, vp'd, micro windered out xr, but have a worry. I'm running a dx3c. I know dudes with twin stix can damn near perform magic with their rigs & the inherent contollability that the stick tx's offer. I've had a pretty sick rig on stix before, & hated it! Just couldn't wrap my dome around the control scheme. Sucked hard at it! Will i be up against the stick boys at a comp? If so, is the wantamix doohicky meant for a setup like mine, to compensate? Cuz i aint goin back to stix, ever. Thanks for the time fellas.

To begin with, i don't even make/sell wantamix's anymore so you would have to find a used one. Also, i'm not sure how well it work with the dx3c, if i remember correctly you can't have both a 3 position and linear 3 position channel at the same time which will greatly reduce the functionality of having dual esc's. I would highly suggest just getting a new radio. An excellent radio is the futaba 4pl, however i would also recommend a hacked flysky GT3B or GT3C. For more information on the flyskys please visit my website FlySky |

Thanks losi, with one of the radios you listed, can i control each esc? Guess i'm asking how exactly it increases the functionality. Sounds like a radio's the next move tho. This one got a little overwhelmed with moa duties after mainly just using the extra channel for winches on the scalers.

Either of the radio's mentioned will allow you to DIG (drive one ESC only whilst the other remains on drag brake) as well as proportionally drive both ESC's at different rates (Vary the drive front to rear so achieve over/under drive).

| Re: TX comp question for ya I get that lay8on, but how is that better than my current setup? I have good dig with my punk, & have the over/under drive i like with the appropriate pinion choices for the diffs. Unless i can change the proportional part on the fly? It just sounds like a better way to do the same thing. That doesn't really motivate me to go drop 2 bills on a better radio.

Yes, with dual esc mixing you can control the proportional part on the fly. You could be in dig, and with a click of a button you can all of sudden add 10% of the throttle to the locked up wheels so now if you still have the effect of a dig but move forward slowly. There's alot of other scenarios that can be beneficial with the proportional mixing. |

Sounds like it's time to pony up for a 4pl, or something of the like then. I've been in plenty of spots where i'd wished i'd had a another option besides dig or no dig. What's the advantage to the flysky stuff? Cost? Ease of use?

I will state, I'm a Futaba fan 1st. Have been for over 30 years. This crawler stuff (as well as 2.4ghz) is a bit different for me. I have no issues with Futaba for crawlers, my son runs an updated 4PL with great results. For the cheaper option, I will champion the hacked GT3B/GT3C radios. PS, maybe next time I'm in Sac, we can meet up. | |
