So I got my kit built and plugged in my electronics motor runs but no steering I know my servo works and also my trans and receiver (tried them in my nitro) what could be wrong do I need to bind radio or is it because it's a really cheap servo and it can't handle the 2s any help will be much appreciated

Install a Castle Creations BEC, make sure the servo plug is plugged in the correct way and make sure that the radio's EPAs are set to 0 for the servo.

Also, punctuation is key when asking a question or creating a sentence.

Yeah its plug in the right way. everything works when its in my nitro just wondering does the ae2 esc have built in bec? is there any other options ?

CC BEC is only 20.00 and super easy to install!
on the other side... this will give you more then enough juice to the servo. (Castle software FREE to DL)

Well not sure what I did but my steering servo works now. Does anyone still think a bec is a good idea?

bec is always a good idea especially when the servo is high voltage/torque.

stock crap, i wouldnt bother.

Well, your call, but....... yes.

I had one on my (surprisingly stock) Scorpion when I was comp'ing, and I was very happy with the stock servo. 'Til the bushings bagged out and that was all she wrote.

But what I really liked was that with the stock AE-1 not feeding the servo, I could run WAAAAAAY more than six cells (NiXx). No longer would the internal BEC go thermal and shut my rig off. When I made the jump to LiPo, I went straight to 3S.

Then there was this, my stock servo blew at an indoor comp at a hobby shop. I steadfastly refused to go downstairs and just buy whatever they had in the case, I wanted to do my research and get a decent price. But, had i been a driver who was worth a crap and in any kind of points chase, I'da just gone down and picked out whatever they had. It would have been real tough to throw a good servo in my rig without a BEC in it.
I guess if you know for a fact you're going to be near a soldering station when your current servo pukes, then no, just wait 'til you upgrade your servo, and do the BEC then. If you're not having any problem with your truck 'browning-out' and shutting off, then no, wait 'til later.
Or do the BEC now, and it'll be in there already when you need to swap.


And,
to really blow your mind,

My comp rig started off with the external BEC running through the receiver, and the red wire on the ESC pulled. I've since built a receiver bypass adapter for it.(sends BEC power straight to the servo, no pulling red wire on the ESC)
My CUCV still has it's BEC going through the receiver w/ red pulled.
And JUNKFOOT has a receiver bypass.

I have seen ZERO difference in performance between the two, it's just whichever way you want to hook it up. I run somewhat conservative voltages for my servos, and even on my comp rig, the receiver shouldn't have had (and didn't have) any problem running 7.4 volts through it.

Build yourself a bypass, or pull a red wire, choice is yours.

only thing going to my Rx from the servo is the signal wire. Red/Black off the servo run to the BEC direct!
Power source is spliced into the battery leads (powersource from BEC)

Well I picked up a cc pro bec because that's all the Lhs had, go figure them stocking the more expensive of the two. Got home wired it up and works great. just waiting for my actual good servo now, Then it's time to take it out and drive it . Thanks all for the input much appreciated
